[Launched! 🚀] Mass Editing Projects - especially moving them is PAINFUL

Hello,

I have a list of 100+ projects in the root folder that I would like to move. However, the quantity of the projects makes moving them a very, very tedious task.

Wrike does not seem to provide any "mass editing" functionality for projects the same way it does for tasks.

Not even multiple selection and dragging.

Would it be possible to get something to mititgate this pain point in the near future?

Thank you very much in advance!

OKAY. I've found a workaround that will work for some of us:
Dragging the multi-select dot in Table View works to mass-change the status of projects, a Status Change can trigger an Automation in Wrike to perform actions like moving said folders.

1. If you're an admin, create a dummy or placeholder status to use as an intermediary, OR if you can't or if you don't have several statuses, use a deffered status type or other status.

2. Create an Automation to move projects to a folder when the status changes to Complete or the status you want (a second dummy status can be used for this if you don't want to use completed)

3. Go back to your folder, and refresh

4. In Table View, sort your projects so that they are in contiguous order,

5. change the first project's status to the defered status type.

6. Click select the same cell again so you get a blue highlight with blue dot in it's lower right corner.

7. Drag the blue dot down to change statuses as you drag, but DON'T change all statuses, leave one or more in the complete status or the status you want to affect.

8. WAIT. Wait about 10 seconds, keep an eye at the bottom of the Wrike window, a green progress bar may be filling, the bar may not appear for several seconds, during this time don't do anything else in the table!

9. Now select a cell with Complete (or the status you want to affect) and reverse the process, dragging the blue dot UP to change the statuses of the ones you changed previously.

10. Wait for the green progress bar to fill.

You may have to do this in small chunks of 10-30 projects at a time and be patient, it will still be catching up for several seconds after you finish dragging the status changes. a watched pot seems to never boil too, so you might have to refresh to see the changes.

This is a solution that ONLY admins can do, but it is a workaround. I hope it helps

Lisa + @... -- this has over 100 upvotes over a 3 year period -- this really needs to be addressed. Wrike has SEVERAL functional discrepancies between projects, tasks and folders and it doesn't make sense for certain functions to not work across the board. HELP! :)

Any progress on this feature request?  It would be such a time saver to be able to move projects around within folders without having to manually open and modify folder tags.  Being able to drag the columns in the table view too update fields has been very helpful, but it still does not allow some of the most basic bulk updating to happen without manually clicking on each project.

Joey Lopez great trick Joey!

Hope that mass edit of projects and folders will be possible soon, it's hard to explain it cannot be done to be honest.

This is a much needed piece of functionality. The lack of ability to mass edit projects negatively impacts our ability to rely on Wrike as our PM system.

With the new Wrike Lightspeed, I am disappointed to see that this function does not yet exist. I have yet to find an efficient work around for this.

Why has this been in question for over FOUR YEARS? Seems like an OBVIOUS functional option to activate. There are way to many functions that don't work the same across projects and tasks like this one.

Hi. Any updates on this feature? This would be really helpful, especially when archiving cross-tagged projects.

Another use case: one of our power users left our company and I see her "deleted user resources" folder.  I want to bulk edit folders to remove them from the assigned and created folders under her deleted user resources folder.  Additionally we have dozens of empty projects that were created by mistake that need to be deleted.  In both cases, my only option is to update or delete each folder individually.  Bulk edit options would be incredibly useful.

Hi Riccardo Proserpio, thank you for your comment. In the New Table View now it's super easy to mass edit folders and move them to a different location. All you need to do is select the relevant items by ticking the checkbox next to their name and then click on the "Location" icon to change edit their location:

Dear George Fiveash and Juan

thanks for feedback but is not what we need.

our target is to bulk changing the folder color in one time (different color different meaning), but right now this function is not possible in New Table.

If anyone have any suggestion will be appreciated due the volume of folder need to change the color is huge to apply one by one.

Hi Riccardo Proserpio, thank you for your reply. I understand that your suggestion is related to a different type of action (different from changing statuses, moving or deleting items, etc). For this reason, may I please kindly ask you to create a separate Product Feedback post so other users can easily find your suggestion and upvote it?

I have also passed your feedback on to our Product Team 👍
