Mass Actions in New List View 🔥

You've enabled the new List View...but you still want to do use mass actions.

Here's how:

1. Using the Bulk Edit Button:

2. Using cmd/CTRL option:

  • While in List View; hold cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while hovering over a task, then click the space on the left of the assignee icon.
  • That task is now selected and will show a white tick icon where the assignee icon was. You can continue to select other tasks as needed.

See the example below. Any questions, comment and we'll be happy to help:

This isn't intuitive to many people especially people not as tech savvy. It would be nice if there was something anywhere that visually indicated what to do without having to remember to hold down command or crtl on windows. This command is fine, but it's poor initial UI.

Also fwiw, before I reached out to chat support, I attempted to holding shift as that's another universal mass select tool in many apps just fyi.

Agree with Lauren's comment. I hunted around for quite a while before submitting feedback requesting help. It's easy once you know it, but I suspect MANY people will not find how to do this on their own.

Thank you guys, I totally understand where you're coming from and this has been brought to the attention of the Product Team. We've posted this here to help let everyone know how it works right now. It's a Labs at the moment, so this feedback is very much appreciated at this stage ✌️

If it changes, I'll be sure to let you know here 👍

It seems like this only works inconsistently, as well. Some of the time, even when holding CMD, clicking on the icon pops up the single assignee dropdown, rather than the mass select. Definitely not intuitive, and since mass select is one of the few reasons I use List view, it's a pain (I turned off the feature).

Of course, adding a mass selection option to Table view would also be nice, then I wouldn't even need to bother with List view hardly at all.

I had to disable the New list view because it would not let me mass select, it kept bringing up the single assignee dropdown. the new MASS select option picks all the tasks, I need to be able to check some of them for adjustment, not all of them.

It would be great if we could still see the assignees when bulk editing - sometimes I need to reassign all tasks that were assigned to one person to another person and that just became a lot more difficult to do without error.

@Dana, totally agree!!!  I didn't catch that part. Must be able to see assignees.

My $.02 but I'm on the fence in terms of UX.  I could live with it as-is now.  I like being able to freely drag subtasks w/o a keyboard use.

Idea A - Always display a selection icon, without requiring a keyboard key.  This is becoming more common in many cloud storage tools, so people are likely to understand this.  However, the circle with checkmark won't work, as people will confuse it for completing a task. Perhaps use the previous icon, similar a radio button.

Idea B - Clicking the empty space in the row selects it.  No need for a selection icon.

Beyond that... Use SHIFT and CTRL for multi-select as people are accustomed to.

Also... I'd LOVE for the list view to get some table-like features (I understand that would be a big f'ing deal to do).  IE the gear icon appears in list view, so I can display custom field info in the list view.  Of course, you can do that in the table view, but from there you're not able to freely organize with drag & drop, etc.

I agree with Sam that SHIFT should be reserved for multi-select. Besides being a standard command across software, it makes selecting large lists of tasks so much easier, and I'm really missing that from the new list format right now.

I'd also love the table-like features that he mentions!

That image tutorial shows that each task in the new list view still has the "folder labels" visible.  In my new list view screen, I no longer see the "folder labels" for tasks that have been assigned to multiple folders.  Have I missed something?

@Elaine Tse, you have to turn them on (or off). See photo.

@Wrike

  1. Really need to be able to see who is assigned to the task when selecting via Bulk.
  2. Really need to be able to hold down Shift and select a range! Way too much time is being spent on click click click click for bulk select.
