[Backburner ⏳] Using a request form to add a new task to an existing task (using the ID)
It would be great if we had an option in the request forms that we can add a new task to an existing one.
It could look like that:
Or an other idea to add a subtask trough a request:
so the task ID is automatically assigned from the existing task.
Great suggestion!
Yes - also we in DE agree that we would have a great benefit with this feature 👍

Great idea and a very useful feature! 👍
Hi everyone! This is an interesting idea, thank you for posting and supporting 🤗 So, in short, you'd like to have an option here to also create a new subtask, is that correct?

Hi Lisa,
yes, that's right. But the best way would be that it's possible to use the same request form to create a duplicated task or an new duplicated subtask.
Got it, thank you for clarifying, Malina Woerner 🙌 I'm passing your suggestion to our Product team now 👍

Hey Lisa,
any news on this topic?
Hi Malina Woerner, thank you for checking in here. Unfortunately, there are no updates at the moment in relation to this suggestion. When the post reaches 60 votes we'll be checking in with our Product team to assign a status according to our Guidelines and Statuses 🙋🏻♀️
Would be interested in this feature. We have hundreds of Architectural projects and are looking for a way to submit a request that will generate a task for another department space, but also show as a task in the main project it is related to .
Example, When we get to the end of the document production phase we want to submit a request for review, that will generate a task for the partner to review the documents, but we also want to have the new task for the partner to show in the project so that Project Management team can see that the task was created and the current status, within the project as a container.
This type of request action would occur at several stages of the project, with similar requests for other departments such as accounting and the specification writing team.
Hello Brent Heaton, welcome to the Community. In this case, you could select the relevant project where the item should be included in the "Save to" option, and then add a single select question that would allow you to also include the item in the Space of the department of your choice:
Would this work for you? Please, let us know.

Juan,
I understand your suggestion, and I use it and it works in 50%-75% of the request forms I need. But I do not think we are on the same page with my question. I know that I can assign a parent space, folder, or project, IF the that parent locations existence pre-dates the creation or edit of the request form. What I am asking about would be a dynamic input in the request form, so that I can have the user enter the desired location in the form. Then the resulting task(s) the request generates, would be placed in the project that is specified, by the user. With this user entering a Parent location that was created at a date after the request form was created or Edited.
We are an Architectural and Interior Design firm, so here are scenario Examples:
I have a Project request request form, where the user request a project setup. That form pulls all or part of the project setup from an established blueprint with tasks (project phases in our case) and sub-tasks (actual activity tasks), and places those items in a know space and folder location based on the Project Manager (assignee) that is selected to oversee the project.
Scenario 1) I want to create a request form where a user can add a phase to the project, at a later date, when the project scope changes.
Scenario 2) We have a form to request project specifications from our specifications writer. This request is submitted well into the project, as there are design decisions and dates that need to be figured out before we can engage the specification writer. I would like the task(s) that are generated from the specifications request form, to be located in the user created project, that they specify in the questions of the request form.
Scenario 3) We have hand-off request forms at various stages of the project.
3a) One example is the request for the Architect to review the plans. This form generates a task for the administrative staff to schedule a review time with the design team member and the Architect
3b) We have a request form to engage and assign a Construction Administrator to the project. This form gathers the information that is needed by that team to understand the project, so that they can assign the appropriate team member.
The power of a task or to-do list is two fold. Firstly, it is an outline to see what needs to be done. But it is also a tracking tool to verify that the previous tasks have been or have been assumed to have been completed. The ability to have a dynamic input for the Parent Space/Folder/Project/Task would allow us to keep all the task associated with the Architectural project workflow in one Wrike Project. Without the input method in a request form, we have to rely on the user to open the task directly after completing the request form, so that they can manually add the Parent location for the task.
Hi Brent Heaton, thank you for your detailed reply. I now fully understand your case. I realize that in this situation, creating as many options as necessary for parent folders would not be the best solution, particularly if multiple parent folders are required. Your proposed suggestion in this case is very reasonable, and I have shared it with our Product Team.
In case there are any improvements implemented, please rest assured that we will keep you updated.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your case with us. Let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with 👍
Hopping back into the discussion, as I found another, older thread that parallels this thread with a similar request.

I would like to add a vote to this request. It would be a great feature.
Hi Brent Heaton and John Kelso, thank you for your comments, I'm checking for updates with the Product Team 👍
Hi everyone, after confirming with the Team, I'm afraid that at the moment we don't have updates to share about this suggestion. However, we will keep you informed if any changes are implemented 👍
vote added - although this post is already a few month old! Implementation highly appreciated
Another vote. This would greatly simplify some use cases that I would like to see iplemented.
Hi folks! Thanks for the upvotes and backing this suggestion, we’ll forward your comments to the relevant team 👍
