Collaborators cannot view custom fields ??

Hi everyone, it is said that collaborators cannot create/edit custom fields but in my case they cannot even view custom fields created by another regular user. Is it normal ?

Hi Ly, thanks for reaching out 🙂

Normally Collaborators can view Custom Fields and their values, so what you've encountered doesn't sound right. I've created a Support ticket for you, someone will contact you soon to help with this 👍

Hi, what is the outcome of this? I have situations where some custom fields are not visible to a collaborator while others are visible. How are custom fields defined where some are visible to collaborators and others are not? Is this a setup issue of the custom field? Is it a security/permission issue? I have the custom fields in question added to the parent and local folder and they appear in table view for me but still do not appear for the collaborator. The custom fields are space fields but I have noticed the same issue with account fields. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hi Robert Meade! This can be related to how they are shared, so I'd suggest reaching out to our Support team about this. I'll be happy to raise a ticket for you, please let me know 🙂

Hi Lisa,

Yes, please raise a support ticket. Here is the setup:

  • We have a space created
  • all collaborators are members of the space (via groups)
  • the custom fields are space fields against the space we created
  • We have added the custom fields to the folder containing the projects
  • We have added the custom fields to the parent folder structure
  • the custom fields are setup for projects, folders and tasks

Thank you for your help!!

Thank you Lisa, yes the issue was resolved. For the benefit of others who may read this,  If the setup is as I describe above, the missing piece was the collaborator needs to add the custom fields to their table view by clicking the gear icon to add new columns. The setup above will allow them to see the custom field as a option to choose. They must be in Table view.
