Linking to dependants in other projects?

I have a recurring issues of projects waiting on other projects. Like I find out we can't start design on project A until project B gets approved, etc. And then I go to project A a week later and I'm staring at it trying to figure out why we haven't started yet. So I ask again and have the same conversation...

How do other project manager's reflect this type of information? I've started just commenting on projects/tasks with "update:" so that I can see what's happening at a glance without having to guess. But I feel this can be improved.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sam,

We used to have a task/project heavy Wrike; however, we have switched to being workflow heavy which might help! If you have recurring tasks, I would build them out in a custom workflow. It is amazingly helpful and was the best thing we could have done with Wrike. The only downfall to this is that you cannot use the Gantt chart as much.

Set Up: build out the dependent projects in a workflow

Instead of having your work as projects, make them tasks within one project. You can place dependencies this way.

My Example

Project: Newsletter
Task 1: Blog Post A
Task 2: Blost Post B
Task 3: Newsletter Creation

Here are the custom workflows that we use for this! I really hope this helps.

Let me know

Hey Sam,

Devon's workaround is a great suggestion! Project dependencies is a feature we'd really like to be added as well. If you'd like, you can vote for this feature in the Product Feedback section of the community here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115003737785-Project-Folder-Dependencies
