Please add the functionality to include other hyperlinks than "http://" in task descriptions

Hi,

in parallel to Wrike we have a document handling system where we keep the latest version of current documents. This means that when we want to attach a document to a Task in Wrike we do not want to insert the actual document (because the document content may change) but rather insert a link to the document in our document handling system.

When inserting hyperlinks in Wrike today, the system always adds an "http://" which does not work for us. We would like to see an option to (checkbox?) to deactivate the automatic insertion of "http://" and allow for the user to insert a customized complete link. In our case it could look like this:

"m-files://show/B8325E0A-998A-4B93-911E-8F1439268D83/0-114225?object=1FC534ED-44C4-45D4-A536-3B462873B117"

When Wrike inserts an "http://" as a prefix, the link obviously does not work.

Cheers

Johan

Hi Johan, welcome to the forums 💪! Do the links you're inserting always start the same? For example, with "m-files"?

Hi Stephanie,

for now that's the only use case we have (and we would want to do it a lot). However, I could imagine other users/customers could have similar needs with other types of links.

It seems to me that "programming-wise" it could be a fairly easy fix. Either to introduce an option for non-standard hyperlinks (in addition to the link-button you currently have) or to have a checkbox in the hyperlink dialog to deactivate the insertion of "http://" and allow the user to insert a customized link.

Cheers

Johan

Hi Stephanie,

I would like to second this request; often, a separate document management system is in place that operates using a separate launch signal for browsers. Worldox, for instance, uses wdox://?123456 (the id of the document).

Every time I try to use the hyperlinking, it keeps jamming an http:// in front of it and I can't seem to find a way around it.

Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

We would like to have an option to utilize our own internal link that houses documents, similar to Johan's example.  Our internal link doesn't use the http prefix either.

Thanks

I would like to request the same thing. In my case (windows server back-end) our normal practice is to insert hyperlinks in correspondence to direct users to files located on our shared system. In our case this is \\servername\files\specific file, for example. Most users in the windows environment use the insert hyperlink feature that lets you paste in a specific path as I outlined or a web hyperlink.

Having this ability would be great.

Hello Lisa,

I also would like to second this request; we also use a  separate document management system, we would like to have a link to. The link starts always with: lobo-dms://

Best regards from Munich/Germany

Thank you for your feedback, Mallory Reagan! The team doesn't have any solid plans for this currently, but they keep this suggestion on their radar and might consider it as a future enhancement. I'll keep you posted on the progress here.

Welcome to the Community! 🙂
