[Status: Launched! ๐Ÿš€] Lock time sheets on an interval (monthly or weekly, or manually)

We service a range of clients on an hourly basis and have multiple projects running at any given time for each.

We bill our clients at the start of each month based on hours incurred for the prior month, and need to be able to lock everyone's time sheets at the end of each month so we can record that time in our accounting software and bill that work out without having unexpected time get dumped into the project after month end and accounting close each month.

All timesheets must be submitted/approved at the end of each month and any time that needs to be added after month end needs to be added to the next month's time sheets to keep accounting and reporting straight for billing and for payment of hours employees and contractors. Time sheets are also how we track employees' billable vs. non-billable time and time off vs. time worked, and all of that activity centers around projects and tasks we have set up in Wrike.

At the end of a project our time log records need to match the time billed, and if people are going back in and adding time after end of month close, when accounting has already done the export, we end up with discrepancies. We also end up with issues in reporting on employee utilization and all the rest.

We very much want to be able to use Wrike to track time, but without the ability to lock timesheets from a certain date and prior, we can't use it.

Adding this feature would open Wrike up to working with industries that are now out of reach due to the current limitation. There are a lot of business that wouldn't consider Wrike because it doesn't allow you to lock time entries. For many, theย platform you enter time into must match exported reports in case you are audited down the road. As it works now users could edit time entries after we export hours each month creating a discrepancy between the system's data and our export.

So far as a company we are getting such positive feedback about Wrike the only downfall we are having is complaints of not being able to lock timesheets so we can track time in Wrike as well. 1 system to work out of to handle all requirements needed.ย  Surely there are other clients of yours that require this?ย  We can't be the only one.ย  From an audit standpoint you would think it's a requirement for other companies too.

Please really look into making this change. If not globally which I would imagine is a benefit to all. Then customize for just our organization Miles Partnership

Adding the timesheet locking would greatly improve how quickly Wrike is embraced by our teams. ย A major goal in moving to Wrike was to simplify the project management and time tracking process. ย Entering time within a single system is essential to this simplification. ย Without it, we are still jumping between multiple platforms and duplicating some elements of project management. ย Please strongly consider making this modification so that we can use the well thought-out time tracking tools that exist within Wrike!

Is there any update on this? We are considering switching from JIRA to wrike but one of the missing features that holds us back are being able to lock timesheets.

Hello there, I second this feature request!

In my situation, it would be helpful while managing agile projects. I often require my team to be careful with where they track their time in Wrike. It requires that I pay extra attention to where is my team tracking its time. Example :

Say one IT project is developed with 5 Scrum iterations. Each iteration is 3 weeks. So I have one root folder and 5 projectsย underneath, each project represent one iteration.

I often get the case that between 2 iterations, some developers still track their time in iteration 2 while we are working on iteration 3... One thing that could help, is locking the project so no more time can be added in order to avoid tracking time at the wrong place. I don't see this feature to be on a per task basis, I see this feature configurable on a level in the tree structure > which would affect all tasks at this level.

I second this request. Since we need to provide a full time logย for every employee by law, we really would like to see this feature in order to build or complete time-logging and reporting process based on Wrike. Having one tool as a single source of truth really is a benefit.

Likewise, you wouldn't want all users to be able to delete tasks associated with time that's been reconciled and locked.

The lack of this feature might actually cause us to not be able to use Wrike in the future. Hoping this ability will be added soon.

It's insane to use and/or rely on time-logs that can be edited by any Regular user, and without log of that activity and without an option to restore deleted...

What does "backburner status" mean? I'm not use I follow how becoming a Wrike expert concludes with timely locked timesheets.ย

Iโ€™m concerned that users can see and delete time entries with no logging of the event in stream. It deletes the original post of that time entry in the log as well. Users can delete their own time and the time of others.(Business edition). ย Please advise

Like others, we can't use the timesheet feature without this, as well as an approval workflow.

1. The ability for a timesheet to be 'submitted' and then 'approved'

2. Once the timesheet is 'submitted' it should be locked for editing

We also need this feature as we have to sent monthly timesheets to our customers. I also like the idea of timesheet entries that are marked as billed.
Locking the timetracking for a task or projekt can be difficult sometimes, because the project is still ongoing.

In general, i would like to identify timetracking entries that are made after an invoice has been sent!ย 
I would like to have something like this:

1. Add a new status group in workflows named "billed"
2. After i change the status of a project/task to the status of the group "billed" (e.g. partially billed or completely billed), all timetracking entries that have been made to the tasks so far are classified as billed.

Further ideas:
- New timetracking entries can only be added for a date that is after the last date of the entries being billed. Otherwise they have to be approved

Hi Lisa,

This is excellent news, but for our use-case, there is a major miss. The fact that an Admin can't go back and make changes if need or temporarily unlock the ability to make timesheet/timelog updates makes the feature unusable for us since we have integrated Wrike with Netsuite. But hope it is working well for everyone else on the thread and that there might be additional updates soon.
