[From Wrike] New Look & Feel ๐จ
Hello everyone,ย
The recent release of Custom Item Types, New and Updated Views, and Space Workflows are just a few of the exciting Product Updates that have been made recently; more are on the way, so stay tuned! ๐ As our functionality evolves, so too will our design and thatโs why weโre happy to announce that starting next Tuesday, October 25, 2022, you will notice slight changes to how your Workspace looks ๐
Whatโs going to change:
- Various buttons, avatars, search bar, and statuses within different views will receive a more modern and enhanced look and feel.
- New default Workspace theme called Midnight (Dark Blue), with more contrasted text and buttons.
- Other elements like space tiles, tools, and your left-hand navigation panel will become more contrasted when you hover over them by having a more distinct background color.ย
- And more! ๐
Weโre not going to share any more screenshots in advance, because we donโt want to spoil the surprise, but weโre very much looking forward to hearing your feedback under this post next week ๐ค

Is this change across all themes? Or just the (new) default?
Excited to see the new home page :-)
Aaron Higgins If you're not using the default workspace theme, you will still get the new look & feel ๐ But you can continue using the theme you like, of course. The only theme that is changing is the default one ๐

Not to rain on the parade here, but yet again we are seeing another release of "look and feel" items that have no impact on functionality, while requests for functionality are backburnered because of lack of resources or priorities.ย
I have to pose the question again, why are colors, contrast, and icons more important than bugs and missing core features? I highly doubt that users are complaining about buttons and avatars more than the lack of certain fundamental functionality.
I personally have reported several bugs that have been acknowledged and confirmed by the Wrike team as bugs, but aren't getting fixed because of lack of resources or just a general statement of "not getting fixed during upcoming development cycles". Really? We get new colors and enhanced contrast but we can't fix bugs? Where are Wrike's priorities?
I know I keep preaching the same story, but users have been experiencing this for years and it is so frustrating. Functionality requests from 5 years ago with a significant following still isn't implemented but we keep getting visual enhancements. I truly don't understand this logic.ย Wrike, please focus on making your platform work versus making it look prettier.
Thanks Lisa
Are we ever going to see a Dark Mode option?
Jason Pontius I get what you're saying, there's some things that never really get the attention (my particular one is a better "My Tasks" page/functionality, with more filters/etc).
But Wrike has been delivering a lot of improvements that are much bigger than the "look and feel" ones. Do you follow the Weekly Release Notes topics?ย
And I think many of these major new things are the ones driving the little interface tweaks, to make Wrike easier and faster to use (and to new users learn).
Eitherway I'm excited to see if we're gonna get some surprise product announcements next week in Wrike Collaborate :-)
ย
Thanks a lot for your feedback here, everyone! ๐ค
We'll be announcing more product announcements and updates in the coming days.ย
Our team is also planning to work on the dark mode in 2023 ๐ฅ

Lisaย this is great news! Can we update the status here to "Planned"? Thanks!

Adding the word "empty" to fields that contain no data makes it visually more difficult to quickly identify empty fields.ย
I find the new updates to the interface a little buggy. I have had columns not fully fit into view, data disappear, etc. Hopefully, this all gets fleshed out because right now it is just causing issues.
I also don't understand how you can release a new "version" by updating the interface, and yet the actual version of the app doesn't change. My app was version 3.3.16 before the updates and is still version 3.3.16. How is that possible?ย Changes to the app should carry with it a revision increment.
ย
Jason Pontius the "App" is actually just an Electron container that renders the Wrike web app within it. Wrike can push changes to the web and it will appear within the app.
Hi, I agree with Jason Pontius re. the importance of the updates. There are many other improvements Wrike puts on hold forever and you see how other companies using competing products are enjoying features we don't. Also, I agree with Michele Sakellaris re. the empty wording. Why did you do that? It is like in a web form or an excel file with all cells/fields saying "empty" before completing them. Not useful at all, only makes it harder to see what matters: the real entered values..ย ย
Lisa I can only agree with the others: the word empty makes it more difficult to read and see empty fields. Without anything in it it was easier.
How about Dark Mode?

Michele Sakellaris, Erwin UNU, Sven Passinger I've passed your feedback on the word "empty" in empty custom fields to the respective Product team ๐ Michele Sakellaris Welcome to the Community ๐
Jason Pontius Thanks a lot for reporting that, I've asked our Support team to look into that!
Till Suter Welcome to the forums! I've updated the status in this thread ๐ The Product team is currently researching that.

I do like that the custom fields are now shaded so it is clear where the data is, versus before when the values just floated out there beside the field names. However, I agree that having "empty" in the fields is not helpful.ย
Thanks for the additional feedback here Jason Pontius; I've let our Product team know ๐
