[From Wrike] The New Wrike Experience - Update ๐Ÿ”

Hi everyone!ย ๐Ÿ‘‹ย 

Many of you know that we have recently launched the New Wrike Experience in Labs. A huge thank you to everyone whoโ€™s been testing it out and sharing your feedback with us, this feedback is vital for our team! Itโ€™s our goal to make sure that this New Experience brings more transparency into your work, allowing you to use Wrike in the way that works best for you and your teams.ย 

Whatโ€™s new

Weโ€™re very excited to announce the first update to the New Wrike Experience. Here are the recently introduced improvements:

My Home

1) Customization and adaptive view

My Home allows you to configure the workspace and provide a quick and cleaner way to find the most important work. Hereโ€™s what you can customize in My Home:

  • Sections: Reorder Recent, Pinned, and Spacesย 
  • Pinned and Spaces section: Reorder the placement of the tiles with drag-and-dropย 
  • Hide tools in the right panel Toolbarย 


2) Timer on the top levelย 


3) Pinned items

On the top-level navigation, youโ€™ll now see the navigation path. If youโ€™re in a project, folder, or tool, you may choose to pin the specific area to your My Home by clicking the pin icon. You may also unpin by clicking the pin icon again, or by unpinning from the Pinned section in My Home.ย 



Configurable Views

The team updated the persistent views functionality:

  • Projects, Spaces, and folders can now have multiple saved views
  • You can rename saved views
  • New default view selector
  • You can also duplicate a persistent view

Persistent views are currently available for the List, Table, and Board view.ย 

ย 

To try out the updated New Wrike Experience, please go to Wrike Labs and enable the New Experience. If you have the New Wrike Experience enabled when first introduced, you will see the updated version starting today.ย

Thank you for the update!

I have a suggestion. I think the icons on the home view need a bit more diversity so it's easier to tell what type of element you're looking at. All of the icons are the same colors and a similar shape, so it's hard for me to tell at a glance where my dashboard are vs. folders and projects.

These are some interesting updates, but I think most of us are going to hold off on trying the Lab again until the big update that allows for universal navigation from workspaces is available. I gave this a test drive and noticed a few bugs, though:

  • Experience: This update also re-ordered all of the spaces in our home screens so we'll need to manually reorder our spaces again, and I hope that bug is fixed for the next update.ย 
  • Configurable Views: It removed all but my List view everywhere when I enabled it and I now need to go in and add all my view types back to all of my folders and spaces which... maybe feels like it was not the intended effect. This can't be right, can it? Do I need to manually add all of the view types back to all of my projects for this to work? Even when I add them at the top folder level it doesn't cascade down and still just populates 'List' and nothing else.ย

Lisa,ย  I feel greatly disappointed in the "New Experience".ย  I am not sure the UAT was focusing on real-life scenarios - or better still did they even talk to customers ?

Why have you REMOVED the top level Menu items in the "white space" of each screen.ย  These were static, and meant EVERYTHING was just ONE click away:ย  Dashboards, Reports, Stream.ย  Now it takes at least two clicks to find anything.ย  ย The space at the top is still UN-USED - Please fill it up and PUT THEM BACK.ย  When at the "HOME" page, the SPACE NAMES are truncated.ย  I cannot expand, drag, drop, but now have to HOVER over the SPACE to find out the full name.ย  Again, more work, less benefit.

Additionally, all the SAPCES were ALWAYS on display on the LEFT hand panel.ย  Now they are hidden, and I CONSTANTLY have to go back to the HOME page or hamburger, or 9-dots to find ANYTHING.ย  Again, a complete waste of my time.ย  Day in day out, every few minutes.ย 

Still your Custom Fields are sorted automatically by alpha, and make NO LOGICAL SENSE when I open a task / Fields.ย  ย  Secondly, they fields flow from left to right, to left, to right, to left to right ...and so on until you reach the end.ย  At least have the TAB/Cursor move DOWN the LEFT Column, then over to the right.ย  Again, seems like no/little UAT involvement.ย  Please see ticket number:ย  1012404 for the beginning of my dissection of the New Experience.ย 

I raised most of this back 3-4 months ago, but no one has listened.ย  My Boss is going to freak out come 5th May when you FORCE us to migrate.ย  Peter

I agree with Peter Tisdall. The only thing "new" about this experience is that more clicks have been added to reach a desired destination. Also, what's the point of a pin if it doesn't move the item to the top of the sidebar for easier access as the star used to do? All hassle, no benefit, as far as I can see.

Hi Lisa. Yes, we're using My Home, but that's an extra click. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it we move from project to project every few minutes all day long and this slows us down considerably. As others have said, why can't pinned items be added across the top so everything is at hand?

Lisa, it's still an extra click.ย  There is so much ORIGINAL space on the screen at the top Wrike used to use, and now have taken away the menus.ย  Everything is many more clicks AWAY from the target.ย  Why take away the top menu items ?ย  they were not taking up an additional space.ย  See attached.ย  Now we have to click on 9-dots or Home - extra clicks.ย  ย

Then there is the issue of the SPACES on the HOME page.ย  They do not display the full names, and suddenly I have to rename each and come up with some creative acronym as you do not have enough space to display, or logically extend the box.ย  Yes i can use "fancy" icons" but really.ย  Not sure UAT team thought about the end users.ย  See below.

To move between SPACES, every 5 minutes as I do, means double/triple extra clicks.ย  Home, Space, Home Space, Home Space, Home Reports, Home Stream, Home Dashboard ......ย  These all used to be ONE CLICK AWAY.ย  Either from the TOP menu, or the side panel.

Now, if the goal was to hide the Left-Hand Panel then offer this option - like to now have - BUT LEAVE THE SPACES, sub-tiers below then WHERE THRY WERE .ย  Don't hide under 9-dots, or hamburger, or HOME icons.ย ย

Great, another forced interface change (I'm sorry, not an interface, an experience - give me a break)....for a tool I use to get work done. I don't want to spend time re-learning how to get things done. I don't want extra clicks between me and the tools I was already using.

I don't want the interface to change every 18 months at the whim of some designers.

I don't want to have to spend time providing feedback instead of doing real work.

Lisa, I don't want to talk to a success manager, all I want is a tool I can depend on (to not change/to load quickly) to do my work. I don't want to spend my time providing feedback, or adjusting to a new GUI/Interface (it's not an experience, that's just marketing-speak).

I've barely gotten used to the last set of changes forced upon us, and now you're pulling the rug out from under everyone again. This seems to indicate the needs/wants of the customer are last on Wrike's list of priorities. I'm disappointed, again.

Sorry Lisa, I'm with Alexander here.ย  I've spoken to by Customer Success Manager here in Australia and they best they offer is a gripe on the community forum board.ย  So here we are.ย  ย All i want right now is LESS CLICKING, more productivity.ย  To get to my daily dashboard, I have to use three CLICKS of the mouse.ย  Hamburger > Personal > then select the dashboard under tools.ย 

Or if this was not set up, then Home, [wait a while for it to load up and it is very heavy on fancy graphics] then select the dashboard i need.ย  This appears less clicks, but takes far longer due to your fancy gui.

And YES, you created a THIRD way to access my dashboard.!!ย  9-dots > Dashboards > specific dashboard.ย  Still three clicks.

GIVE US BACK the top row/ribbon bar with the ONE CLICK access to DASHBOARD, STREAM, REPORTS.

Your new "Experience" means i have to train all my staff how to make better use of their time since they have to perform 3x as many clicks, and even to get it set up under PERSONAL, they process is not that simple to show non-english-first-language-people.

I have to agree with Alexander, Peter, and Michele. I have also shared feedback that the top of the interface is prime real estate that is not being used. Too many clicks.

Overall, the new experience feels clunky. Things feel hard to find. I don't really see the benefit of most of the changes.

I wanted to let you know that we've released an update that enablesย your pinned items to be available in the Hamburger menu in the New Wrike Experience. This section can be collapsed and expanded by clicking on the title 'Pinned' in the Hamburger menu.

In the coming weeks, an update to expand your pinned folders and projects with sub-folders/sub-projectsย in the Hamburger menu will also be available. Please check outย thisย Community postย to find out more about this.
