Automation: Use Almost Any Custom Field as a Trigger! ๐ค
ๅบๅฎใใใๆ็จฟ ๆณจ็ฎใฎๆ็จฟHello Community! ๐
As anticipated in our previous post about Automation updates, you can now use any value of almost any custom field type as a trigger in Automation rules! ๐
Previously, โSingle-selectโ and โCheckboxโ custom fields were supported in Automation. Now the list has been expanded to any other custom field type, except for calculated fields. The available options are: โTextโ, โNumberโ, โDurationโ, โDateโ, โMultiple selectโ, โSingle-selectโ, โCheckboxโ, โCurrencyโ, โPercentโ, and โPeopleโ! ๐คฉ
Combined with conditions, the new triggers allow you to automate your work when a specific value of a custom field is selected.
The possibilities are endless! For example, if you need to assign a task to a user when a certain number has been reached, you can simply select the number type custom field in the triggers section:
And then specify the value that should trigger the action in the conditions section:
Once you have specified the desired value, you can select the corresponding action:
Another very useful case can be to trigger an action depending on the dates of the items. For instance, you can specify that if the date of your tasks is set to a specific time frame, you can automatically move your tasks to an โUrgentโ folder:

2.
3.
Do you have any ideas on how youโd like to apply these new triggers? ๐งย
Looking forward to hearing your feedback! ๐
Super Juan!
I'm waiting for trigger on task and update on projects and vice versa =)
Hi Pietro Poli, thank you for your feedback!ย

This is great. Do you have plans to add calculation fields?
It's also planned John Kelso ๐ We don't have ETA at the moment; we'll keep you posted.ย

Thanks - I love the automation feature and can't wait for more triggers and actions
ย
John Kelso thank you for your comment! We will keep you informed about any updates ๐
Any plan to make this work with calculated fields? That would make the automation exponentially more powerful. For example, we could add tasks to folders based on how long they were overdue at any point. And if someone changes the due date, we'll still be able to report on how long things sat before anyone updated their work plan.
Hi Jean-Pierre Picard, apologies for the delayed reply here. This is on the team's radar, we'll let you know when we have news ๐

Do you have planned automations to check billing type and change billing type?
Not at the moment Benjamin Rodd, but I'll let our team know about your interest. Can you please share some detail on your use case for this?ย

Thanks @Lisa I don't wish to hijack the thread but the use case is based around using wrike to track tasks both billable and not. I keep coming up against blockers that are making it incredibly difficult to create simple workflows. I've explained the issues here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/requests/1447034ย hope this helps.
