Keeping the browser logged in...

We have a display in our office that we use as an analytics dashboard, showing some of our Wrike team projects, timelines, status' etc in a rotation.  The problem is that the browser doesn't seem to stay logged in and we need to periodically (every couple of days) re-log in.  Is there a way to keep the browser logged in for a longer period of time or to have the browser auto-log in somehow (thinking a key in the url or something)?

Thanks!

Hi Brian, having your team's analytics displayed sounds fantastic (and something I've suggested to teams before). In terms of staying logged in to Wrike - you should actually stay logged in until that session (the browser tab) is closed. Is it possible that there's a rule set up to refresh the browser session every few days. When you log in to Wrike there's a "Remember me" option, I just want to make sure that you're checking that?

P.S. If you're able to share a picture of the set up you guys have for the Dashboard, I would love to how it looks!

Hi,

Slightly different to the above post; we use SSO for Wrike in our organisation and rather than having to login every time we start the browser and go to Wrike (a lot of our users have roles outside of project/task management) we have to login. Is there a way to enable us to login automatically? The Remember Me function doesn't seem to work with SSO.

This kind of feature would really help me get buy-in from those not in the Project Management environment, rather than giving another barrier to entry (literally!).

Hi David, nice to hear from you!

The behavior you're experiencing is correct when you use SSO if you're not signed in with your Identify Provider (IdP). You should be able to save/remember the password at the IdP (which is usually your company's portal login).

Then, when signing into Wrike you should be able to simply enter your email address and because your IdP is already logged in, it will bring you straight to your Wrike account.

Let me know if you have any questions, happy to discuss 👍

Hi Stephen,

Yes that does work, but is there a reason why you cannot stay signed in using SSO rather than having to put your email in every time? It doesn't seem to add any security benefit by forcing someone to enter their email address every time they want to use Wrike, but adds an additional cognitive barrier to adoption for my team who I am still trying to sell the benefits too!

Hi David, sorry for the delay getting back here. I wanted to double-check this with our Security Team.

Currently, the SAML SSO will require your email address if you've been logged out of Wrike. In basic terms; Wrike needs to check what account you want to authenticate with. It then quickly checks if you're signed into the IdP. If you are, you go directly to Wrike. If not, you're asked for your full IdP details.

I can understand log-in requirements may create a barrier to team adoption and it's a fair concern and I appreciate that you raised your feedback here.

As an aside, thinking about adoption in your case; perhaps the Desktop App might be helpful? It's still subject to SAML SSO, of course, but perhaps separating it from your team member's regular internet browser, might suit them a little better.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this 👍

Hi Stephen,

I've spent the last two weeks getting access to the Desktop App through our enterprise IT team. It turns out that this is even worse as when signing on with SSO in the browser, you can just use your email and it will log you in. On the desktop app you need to click through to the SSO to login with just your email address.

It seems like an odd way of working, when most other cloud apps, such as Facebook or LinkedIn let you stay logged in and go straight to that account whenever you go to the webpage/url.

Hi David, I'm sorry to hear this. I was hoping that the Desktop app might be a helpful reminder to the team to work within Wrike, instead of having to navigate to Wrike via a browser tab, but, you're correct, your SSO settings would behave the same.

Currently, the SSO for SAML is as standard, but I have brought the concerns you've raised to our Product Team. If there's ever any update in relation to this service I'll be sure to update you here - thank you for your feedback 👌

I'm experiencing the exact same issue that David Carter brought up. My company recently implemented the same security measure where we're automatically logged off due to a period of inactivity.

I believe the timeout we have implemented is set to 1 hour. Do you know what type of activity resets that timer? Clicking, moving your mouse, scrolling, keydown, etc.

@Ryan Hey, thanks for reaching out 🙂
I've checked with our Security - mouse movements and clicks in the Workspace are considered an activity that resets the timer.
Please get back to me here with any further questions 🙌
