Auto prefill my custom field ( in Subtasks)

Hi all,

 

This would be of great help if we could have an automatic prefill of the custom fields that are already completed in the main tasks.

 

This is really important to us because we used these custom field to track who are the requestor's requests, cost center, etc... And until now, I have to copy paste them. Which is a bit repetitive...

I like this idea. I use a custom field for percent complete. If I mare a task done or complete, I would love the percent complete field to populate 100%. Maybe an easy if/then statement.

Do you have more info about it ? 

 

It seems this option would help many customers :) and save a lot of time to the users. Until now I have to ask my user to always check these fields and they tink it's reaaly annoying to do it two or even three times. So in the end, they don't even fill them anymore which is not acceptable for us. As we based reports on them..

 

Are you still considering this option ?

The custom fields should also have default values. For example when a task is brand new the percent done should default to zero.

My use case would be in autofilling custom tags based on a tag in a certain space. 

We manage lots of companies and we need each item tagged to both the department and the entity, however you cannot pull reports etc based on a for example all marketing tasks for entity X. If we could auto populate the custom field with either department or entity then we could more easily pull these reports with out duplications. I do realize I could have people manually do this in the custom field, but we have a lot of non tech savvy folks so I'd prefer to just have them tag things in one place instead of two.

I would love to be able to auto fill a custom field with the last comment or with a specific tagged comment to create a downward view of work.

I would really appreciate this as well! One of our custom fields is Brand, and it's harder to run reports if the custom field isn't populated for all sub tasks within the main project. I have to physically go to each subtask and populate it with the correct brand in order to get accurate reports.
