[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Colour Coding Tasks
Hi there, please can I suggest a functionality whereby different type of tasks could be colour coded - this would mean that when looking at the timeline or workload view instead of just seeing a coloured stage ( e.g green = in progress etc) we see clashes of similar tasks for example, lots of orange means lots of set up tasks going on at the same time indicating a pressure point. This would be helpful!
Thanks
Stacey
Yes, please.
This is a great idea, I thought about it too! The bigger the project, the more difficult it is to differentiate between the tasks!
Yes agree - the more color coding of that section would be great! Very helpful and useful.
I agree, to color code tasks would make it easier to see different areas these tasks need to be completed in.
I also need to be able to color code tasks. Please.
Yes, color coding for tasks, please!
This could make the Timeline (Gantt) view more visually manageable.
Yes, I could use this feature.
Yes, please, this would be sooo helpful!
I agree, this would be great to quickly indicate how the task is going.
Green = All is well.
Yellow = Warning, we might have some problems.
Red = Task is seriously compromised and needs attention.
Color now.
:-)
Yes please.
The new Calendars feature doesn't really fly without colour coding.
It would also be very useful to be able to colour code tasks in the Board view (this is a key feature in a certain well known board-based task manager for a reason)
Keep up the good work! Loving my leopard skin!
@thread Hi everyone! We currently have Custom Workflows and you can assign colors to different statuses. Would you want to have a workflow status color and then another color in addition to that? Would love to hear more about how this would work!
For me, it's more of a visual thing.
The card itself needs to be of a different color, or have some kind of bold colored line on the side.
The goal is always the same : I need to know as much as possible about a task from a 2 seconds glance.
I also suggested in another thread to be able to put icons on a task, so we can further categorize and differentiate them.
+1 on Luc's comment above!
Its more of a visual thing then a need for more statuses. Just the ability to choose a color on individual cards would be a great help to highlight different cards in a big gantt chart.
Yes please definitely need to colour code tasks so that the Gantt view is easier on the eye and I can immediately see my press dates!
Yes Please!
Yes please, the same for me.
The Gantt view would be immediately clear.
@Everyone Hi, great to see the conversation continues here 🙂 I don't have an update to share at the moment, but all the feedback here is passed to our Product team. Thanks!

I was looking to see if there was a way to change the color of the status of the task. I would like for it to be able to be changed. It's common for the color green to represent GO so would make more sense if this represented a NEW project or IN-PROGRESS. The Blue or Gray is more calming which makes more sense to represent COMPLETED as in I don't have to worry about anymore. This would be helpful for viewing my Calendar at a glance which I am constantly doing in my workflow.
I'd love this option too. At the moment I'm arranging content gathering trips for the same project. When I view the calendar for the project there are lots of tasks with the same title (flights, shoot days etc) but for different countries/dates. It would be so helpful to be able to colour code these tasks so the timeline for each country is clear.
Same issue.
I am based in Switzerland and working with a small international team in Africa. Now evaluating Wrike as our possible go-to project management software. Like the ease of using your Gantt chart, but the lack of being able to change the color of tasks in the timeline really subtracts value. Colors are needed to be able to see the status of a project at a glance. Customization at least for this feature in the professional pricing range would be much appreciated. Please pass on to product features group.
Agree with LA : I need to know as much as possible about a task from a quick glance. In a Production / Manufacturing environment the sheer volume of tasks require visual differentiation. Task colour can e.g. be used to classify the Type of task (not status). Icons / Widgets / Emoticons on the card can further categorize and differentiate them. See Leankit kanban cards for how it should be done.
Hello there, any update on the ability to color code a task? This ability has been standard on most project management software (IE Microsoft Project). Like most have mentioned, it would make sorting workload extremely optimal! Thank you for your time and consideration!
Yes, any update? We were looking to move something to Wrike but when I laid out my requirements, the color coding we have set-up in google sheets is not able to be replicated in Wrike. As such, I'm investigating Smartsheets as an alternative. I'd hate to leave something we already have access to (Wrike) to start something new.
Hello everyone! Thanks a lot for your continued support for this suggestion! I checked again with the Product team, and for now, they still don't have this in their short-term plans. I'll let you know if that changes in the future, and thanks again for your feedback, I continue to pass it on.

This thread was started two (2) years ago and still no update to Wrike? This should be an easy one.
I too will add my voice the the chorus.
Color Coding tasks would be great! Also, the color coding should be visible across views, so if I color code something in the Gantt Chart, it is color coded the same way in the Board View.
Please put this one on the short list!
Agree - we need the ability to color code individual tasks, just like "Categories" of meetings in Outlook. Come on guys, this isn't a biggie! :)
Hi Jim Scheel and Leah Kruger,
Thank you for sharing your feedback here! No news here at the moment; if there are any updates, I'll be sure to let you know.
