[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Half day holiday logging.

Hello,

We are currently logging our staff holidays in Wrike.

The system is great, apart from one thing  - we are unable to log half days! I understand from your support team that logging half days is not a feature, do you think this can be changed?

Hello- Not only would the half days for holidays be important but also half day for regular vacations. I have a colleague going out of town but will be capable to work part of the day however, based on the calendar feature is will show her completely unavailable.

I agree - any time off whether a holiday or a vacation day should be able to be a half day. We want to make sure that if someone has off it doesn't block off their entire day as unavailable for taking on projects.

Hi, just as an FYI in case it helps any users: we have worked around this by creating a special "vacations" project with a customized workflow and logging vacations as tasks that appear in a specific color. It gives us the flexibility to log part time workers, half day absences, recurring absences etc. whilst making it clearly visible in the workload view.

Hi!

Just another person requesting this--after working at numerous places, requesting/taking half days of PTO is incredibly common. We just started onboarding with Wrike and I would love to use this feature, however it skews our reporting of days off because I don't have a great way to truly list what people have taken versus not taken.

PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS :)

Well, I would've just used this capability if it existed.  I'll look into Lucy Freeman's solution some other time.  Our users will have to guage whether the solution fits well in our expected usage for other things.

This would be a great feature to have. Our team do take half days off work hence it would be valuable to allocate hours to leave rather a whole day

Lucy Freemans' solution is nice, we are thinking about the same, but it doesn't help avoiding colleagues to be assigned during their hollidays. Or you must double-record the holidays both in your custom project and calendars as well. The half day would be nice!

My team would also like to see this feature. We'd actually like to see the ability to divide it into hours. We often have people who have a doctor's appointment or need to take their car for service that take 1 or 2 hrs off instead of a full day or half day.

I've just been given the responsibility for tracking all PTO in my office. I was hoping to use Wrike as we continue to ramp up using the platform. However.... legally (and often in practice), people are allowed to take their PTO hourly. At least a half day would be a start and be a great addition.

I have been using Wrike for over 3 years, and really like the program, but this is one missing feature that has always baffled me.  I also use the "Vacation Project" work-around to clearly show vacations in the Gantt Chart, but doing this does not take advantage of some of the critical features that adding PTO into the associate's Work Schedule performs.  When time is added to the Work Schedule under Account Management, it will automatically adjust task timeliness that are assigned to the associate. It will also show that the associate is "unavailable" when assigning a task.  That does not happen with the "work around".

I would like to add that it would be most ideal to be able to confirm vacation time in an hourly format and not just half day or full day.  The workaround of creating a vacation project and adding tasks for each person to confirm hours is acceptable for a short time but long term it would be ideal for staff members to be able to enter their own vacation time in hours in their calendar which would translate back to their availability for project work.

We've just run across this internally. We have a proposal to run our leave tracking through Wrike, but half-days is the stumbling block for it. As said previously, it baffles me why this would not be an obvious thing to implement from the outset.

We would also really benefit from this feature. Greater flexibility with available working hours is needed overall to be honest:

  • Half days as part of a users' work schedule (as well as annual leave)
  • Flexibility on the working hours in a day - not everyone produced 8 hours of deliverable work every day!

I totally agree with Hannah's comment above - the number of hours in a day needs to be adjustable - we have 7 hour working days here.  And 1/2 days should be standard functionality

Given that it is a common practice to take partial days off, it seems ludicrous that this was not a capability from the beginning. It is even more ludicrous and frustrating that, although your users have been requesting it for THREE YEARS, it is not being addressed. Please meet with your team and get this added to the roadmap. It is needed.

With everything that's happening with the coronavirus at the moment, it would be making such a huge difference to businesses if the Wrike platform would allow ACTUAL flexible working (i.e. with features like this). With schools closing in the UK from next week, many of our team are going down to part time hours in order to care for their kids during the day.

Managing this on Wrike is proving to be a complete and utter nightmare because the system only allows you to have one work schedule per person where you are either in or out on any given day. Honestly think given the current global status features such as this need to be shot straight to the top of the priority list to allow us to just function in our normal day-to-day. Not having basic flexible working features like this is causing so much additional stress ontop of an already stressful situation. Sort it out, Wrike.

It should be possible to block half a day as holiday in the calendar. Certain countries like Germany do have public half-day holidays (e.g., 24th of Dec and 31st of Dec). It's not possible to document that with Wrike.

I'm not sure the custom capacity feature is exactly what is being called for in this thread @.... From the looks of things, Custom capacity only allows you to change the daily capacity from 8 to anything else, as long as it is the same every single day. That doesn't help for holidays, annual leave or staff with flexible working schedules (e.g. working a full day on Monday but a half day on Tuesday). 

The status of this post should be changed back as this feature has not been launched.

Thank you for providing this feedback. I've shared this with the Product team, and they've found that this suggestion is similar to this post about amending working hours per day. For that reason, I've changed the status of this post to the same as the original, which is "Backburner". The Product team sees the value in this suggestion, but there are currently no plans to implement it into Wrike. If there are any changes in relation to this, I'll be sure to let you know.
