Make tasks dependent on successor, not predecessor? (base schedule on launch date)
Hi,
I'm setting up a schedule in which everything depends on the launch date and is calculated backwards from it, e.g. "product pictures are needed 8 weeks before launch", "product texts are needed 2 weeks before launch etc".
So in case the launch date itself is changed (let's say postponed by a month), I'd like all tasks to automatically also move one month on.
So is it somehow possible to make tasks dependent on a successor, or one certain task that is after them? Or if not, is that a function that can get introduced?
Unfortunately our launch dates are changing a lot, so it's a real struggle having to manually move everything each time otherwise.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay getting back and apologize if I've misunderstood the problem you're facing here.
You can create one task e.g. Product Launch as the final milestone or completion task. And then create dependent tasks as you've described above.
You can then move the dates of the Launch task and the tasks in the dependent chain will move accordingly. Check out the quick example I made below and let me know if this helps - or if I've got it totally wrong 😇
No I want the option to backward schedule when creating my timeline from end of project to derive to each task drop dead start and finish date.
As an add on it would be great if for example a task is completed in advance that an additional column is added to enable available start date but as an option but not affecting nor changing original " drop dead start date" to complete project on time.
This will enable all department to schedule their daily work in priority and show free time gap that if needed can be plugged in by adhoc projects

I was looking into this also,
My Workaround is an inverted predecessor.
set a deadline, and add tasks with this deadline as a FF predecessor, Then lag the amount of days you need to get stuff done.
when you shift the deadline, everything shifts accordingly

This would be a huge help. I am using XLS import, and I can only get it to work the way Vincent described above, which is somewhat backwards.
