Example, once a post hits a stage called Published, you can choose to set it as Read-only from the Workflow menu — this would avoid any accidental clicks/edits to material after it's made it through the stages.

Hi Andrew,
Have you tried using fixed workflows to lock down your "Published" status? You can prevent other users from selecting any other statuses once it reaches this stage (if using the task status dropdown).
However, they can still check / uncheck the task status, which I'm currently having issues with. I posted about it here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360001569633-Workflow-Requests-re-Custom-Fixed-Flexible-and-Auto-Assign-Rules
