[Status: Not planned] How to mass edit and rename projects and tasks?
Hi, we use Wrike for new product development and I have created a template with sub-projects and tasks. We typically start off with a working name and then assign it a unique identifier later into the project. So the projects and tasks within this would need to be updated with the unique identifier. I would like to figure out a way to rename all of the tasks and projects but the only way I can think of doing this is duplicating the entire thing and then adding a prefix. Is there another way to do this?

I was checking with the Product team to see if there's an update here. There isn't one for now, but this idea, though not planned currently, is on their radar. We'll continue to pass on the feedback from this thread to them and we'll let you know if there's news in the future.

+1 this one!!! This would save our organization (and me) sooooo much time.
I have our request forms set up to pull in the title prefix, but often people are submitting requests titled "Please do this and tell this person and update it here" and it's 8 miles long. I know part of this can be fixed by creating rules for how to submit requests, but even then, they still come out super long or non-sensical.

We just need a simple find and replace so when multiple tasks get misnamed it's easy to swap a text string with another.
Wholeheartedly agreeing with all this; we are running into similar issues.
Gah ... same here. Mass editing Tasks/Subtasks titles are REALLY needed and seems to have been on the "enhancement list" for almost 6yrs. Do you happen to have any updates on this enhancement feature?
There is a way to create a tool to do this (and manipulate most anything else in Wrike) through the Wrike API.
It is NOT straightforward unless you have a programmer on your team. I've written a tool to help my team out so I can vouch that it works, but it is not easily shareable to other Wrike users at the moment.

Wrike team — seeing the status update "Not Planned" which is agreeably disappointing. With the addition of Upvotes from this separate but similar feature request (https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115002137149--Status-Not-planned-How-to-mass-edit-and-rename-projects-and-tasks-) would be great if those upvotes & comments compiled to an accumulative number of users interested in this feature for the Wrike team to consider. The amount of time we spend actually project managing significant projects and initiatives should take our time. Not having to adjust hundreds of tasks in our WBS would be a MASSIVE time saver. Please make this happen. I will cry tears of joy and promise to check in with my distant relatives more regularly if you make this happen.

We are using Wrike for a guidebook production schedule often the book titles themselves change midway through. A search and replace feature to change the task names would be amazing and a big time saver.
I had a dream the other day, that I didn't have to rename billions of tasks for complex projects already in motion. Then I woke up and realized my reality was in fact, a nightmare.

For example, you can check out this post to see which Community suggestions got implemented in 2022. Our team can't commit to working on all ideas due to various factors, but at the same time, we have a process that ensures that all feedback is reported to the team for consideration. Just here to comment on this feature again - it's a big concern as we consider how Wrike integrates with our other tools and the ease at which this happens elsewhere. It's hard to see this thread and read the continuous comments over the last 6?!?! years without any update on it being at least added to the roadmap? Can someone at Wrike help explain why this would be difficult to implement?

Hi Juan,
Our "Year-End Clearance Sale" taking place at the end of the year has been renamed this week to the "Year-End Clearance Event" - it's a small change that impacts hundreds of tasks in the existing project, where much work has already been done.
Another example this week is a sale at the end of next month is being extended a few days, the one prior to it, shrinking; therefore the project name and all sub-projects now have the wrong dates in the project names.
Many other times there might be a typo or we change a delivery date which we use for organization so we'd need to change a project and all task names within the project to align with the new launch timing.
It's cumbersome, time-consuming, and leaving our projects ripe for human error. This happens multiple times per week.
We will need to see this feature added in order to continue using Wrike long-term as we build further and further into future plans that are created with many TBD details.
WRIKE team: Your users need to be able to mass edit project prefixes and names. This should not be a surprise.
This is such a basic ask and would bring a positive, useful impact to so many users. If WRIKE had this feature it would not seem like a frivolous thing (like many of the current tools do), but essential. The inability to edit multiple tasks names in one step is a glaring issue to anyone who has used WRIKE for more than a few months and experiences a change on a complex project with many tasks and sub-tasks.
Explaining to our CEO why a re-SKU or project name change will take an hour or two of effort in WRIKE is pretty lame. Trust me, I've done it.
I don't need a fancy table view or AI risk analysis, I just want to rename project tasks with the low effort it should require.
Thank you for providing detailed use cases, folks, we appreciate it. We do pass all new feedback from this thread to the dedicated Product team, so rest assured your voice is being heard. Our team may not be able to address all suggestions from the Community or our other feedback channels, and they can't commit to working on all or even most of the amazing ideas we're receiving due to set priorities and resources. At the same time, many of the suggestions have been implemented, so we continue checking with the team constantly as well as bringing up popular ideas regularly during internal discussions. Dear WRIKE team, How can you ignore all the requests for this very basic functionality?
This has been raised 6 years ago and many have very strongly indicated it as must have.
It is unbelievable this has been ignored for such a long time.
Without this functionality users have already indicated they consider abandoning WRIKE altogether, my hand will be going up soon to do the same for my company.
Please please please, get this sorted as soon as possible...

Juan Thanks for checking in. Unfortunately, the drag auto-fill will not work for what we are looking for.
Like others in this stream, we often start the project with a working name and later would like to update all sub-projects and task prefixes to reflect the new name. To be honest, this seems like a straightforward thing. I have limited experience with databases and building simple database management GUI's, and an update, set, where from an uploaded file, seems like a basic thing to execute.
Please see push this up it would be very helpful.

Juan Do you know much about the Wrike to Google Sheets Unito integration? It seems like this would effectively allow for a mass update with two-way sync of the title option it has.
