[Status: Launched! ๐Ÿš€] Setting permissions on who can mark a task or project to COMPLETE.

Hello,

It would be very helpful if there was a way for the creators of a task or project to prevent people from changing the status to complete. It should be something as simple as either the creator ONLY can mark something as complete or both can.

As a supervisor, it gets hard to track what needs to be looked over when people can just mark the task/project as complete.

We tell the staff to mark it "In review" but this is not a sure thing...I would like to limi that so it's clear on my dashboard what is in review so I can mark it as complete when it's looked over.

There are some tasks that I would allow them to mark it as complete if it's a small task but I want the choice.

Thanks!

@Emilia.Kasprzyk,

I agree with you.  Here is my original post, to a different message thread, detailing exactly how i recommend it be programmed to achieve ease-of-use and flexibility:

1) Create a new workflow grouping that sits between Active and Complete.

2) It could be called "Pending Complete" or "Review" or "Assignor Review" or "For Assignor" or something else.

3) The user profile should include a checkbox that allows the user to decide, by default, whether tasks they assign can be COMPLETED by the assignee (without further assignor review) OR if the assignee can only mark the task "Pending Complete".

4) Whenever a new task is created, the Assignor has the ability to override the default condition by checking (or unchecking) a new field inside the task creation window.

This would cover the majority of the use cases.

Peter

The Access Roles feature is only for the Enterprise license holders so there's no way for Business license holders to test and provide input on whether it works to address project control concerns.

Yes, I'd like to be able to set a task as requiring approval before it can be marked complete. For such tasks, approvers (other than the assignee) may be assigned and only when all approvers have approved will the task be marked complete (similar to the proofing and approval process for attached files).

Related to this, I'd like to see that if a task is assigned to someone, then no one else should be able to change the status of that task. As it stands, anyone who is not the assignee, but can see the task, can change its status. This is interference and creates issues in accountability.

I am in trouble for this issue as well, I would like to be updated on the action plan of the team of Wrike to solve the problem. This is absolutely critical.

Hi all, a recent update to Access Roles includes Custom Access Roles for Enterprise accounts.

With Custom Access Roles, Admins can decide whether an Access Role includes the right to:

  • Change task statuses.
  • Edit task descriptions.
  • Edit task names.
  • Edit task Custom Fields.

This feature is currently available on Enterprise accounts and needs to be activated by your account admin.

If there are any further updates to address this request, I'll post back here ๐Ÿ‘

I don't think the update  from December quite cuts it. Preventing them to change status all together would only work in case they only need to be informed, but are not in charge of reviewing or executing the particular task.

The main problem that we are facing right now is that any user can mark as complete a task assigned to them, which generates a problem for the reviewers or approvers. The current functionality of "Assign on staus change" creates a bottle neck on the reviewer, who has to re-assign the task in case it is not considered to be done yet.

In my team we need users to be able to update the task status up to a certain point, where only a select group can move it past it. Given the particular point is whether or not the task is completed I can think of 2 ways:

  1. Create a functionality on the workflows to only allow certain users to set a task to that status.
  2. Create a new category "ready for review" from which only a certain type of users (list) can move tasks from "ready for erview" to "completed".

@All Hey, just wanted to let you know that a new feature Approvals in tasks is now available in Wrike Labs. This feature will help assign task approvers and track the process.

Now you can:

  • Select task approvers
  • Set the due date for the approval
  • Add a description of what needs to be approved

Please note that the feature is available on Wrike for Marketers and Wrike for Marketers Enterprise accounts.

Let me know if that helps and if you have any questions, I'll be happy to discuss ๐Ÿ™Œ
