Report Filters - "Exclude"

The Filters options within reports should include an option to "Exclude" custom fields that contain, or don't contain, a certain number / text. For example, we use a custom field that dictates the type of project that is being undertaken. If we want to run a report that excludes a particular type of project, we are unable to do so.

This will be useful for excluding Archive folder tag for example - current task  archival recommendation is based on moving to Archive folder, but this removes useful tagging. When just added to Archive folder - there is no way to filter old tasks out

I just want to second this motion (already upvoted).

Having only inclusive search filters makes dashboard management hard because we have to update our dashboard parameters every time we add something new (like a new client folder or custom field). If the board could be accomplished with a single exclusion parameter, we'd spend less time managing the management software and more time managing our work.

Is feature improvement only guided by popular community threads? I'd love to cast a vote on a survey or poll from a predetermined list of that was fielded from Wrike user surveys.

Hello Arien Freymuth, welcome to the Community 👋🏻

Thank you for sharing your use case and your feedback! We receive feature improvement requests from multiple channels, including the Community which all is being shared with the Product team. The team then creates priorities based on user feedback and other data. I'll be sure to post here if there are any updates in relation to this suggestion 🙋🏻‍♀️

I was about to write a long tangent on how Wrike can't seem to make a simple filtering request happen...

But then I found a whole host of community posts where Wrike does what it does best (see links at bottom):
- Can you give me your Use Case in more detail so I can suggest a workaround that is just slightly better than your problem but doesn't fix it?
- I will get a hold of the Product team, and "pass this along" so the thread can die slowly over three years.
- Have you tried using Custom Defined fields for the 50th time until you have an unmanageable amount of CDF's?
- Have you tried reworking your entire portfolio schema so that you can then tell your team that you've made another change and then listen to them tell you about how Monday.com is better?

Exclusion filters should pretty simple to implement - and could be achieved with the same UI scheme you have now.
All your team needs to do from a UI perspective is to make the filter checkboxes have 3 states tied to 3 different behaviors.
   State 1: Blank = nothing
State 2: Checked = meets condition
State 3: X'd = does not meet condition

Your API layout is rough for connecting to BI tools, so I'm shocked your team hasn't put in-tool reporting as something high on your list (Analyze isn't great).
Anyways, here are the other requests for the same functionality that will go unsolved in case anyone wants to upvote them for the fun of it.

@wrike Prove me wrong, tell me you have any traction on any of these requests.

Hi Dustin Heathers, thank you so much for your detailed feedback and also for posting the links to these Product Feedback suggestions!

It's true that we do ask the Community members to provide details on their use cases when possible because, as you cite above, we pass on all the Community feedback to our Product team and it helps a lot when the team can understand what the members are trying to achieve by suggesting various improvements. And we do try to suggest workarounds when we can and we hope that some of them have been found useful by the Community members 😊

The vote count for the suggestions on the Product Feedback forum does help the team understand the popularity of different suggestions (we explain how this works in detail here), so we do encourage the members to upvote. Unfortunately, we can't currently merge different posts into one.

I do understand your disappointment here, but please be sure your feedback is also passed on to the team. They would of course love to be able to work on more suggestions from the Community, but there are various factors and considerations related to the planning. The good news is that some of the high-voted Community suggestions do get implemented or researched (you can check them in the featured section of the Product Feedback forum).

If there's anything else I can help you with, please do let me know.

This would be helpful, it's very challenging to exclude "test projects" from other spaces or search results, making it very confusing for users.  Exclusion filters would be most welcome.

I'd like to "second" the need for the ability to exclude folders and projects from widgets, reports, and calendars. And also second the angst of Dustin Heathers in his post last year. I have hundreds if not thousands of projects in Wrike, and need to exclude a portion of them. There appears to be no way to do so without manually tagging the appropriate folders into a new space, and manually maintaining it every time we add new projects. I'd like to invite any Wrike developers to do this tagging and maintenance for me...

Tagging on here...is there a way to exclude certain statuses or custom fields when running reports?

Would love this feature. I have a quarterly calendar that we use on our team, and I would greatly benefit from being able to filter out specific field selections from showing in the calendar.

A simple "Exclude" option from the dropdown that features "Contains All, Contains Any, etc..." would go a long way.

Hi Preston DeMaria, thanks for adding your feedback here.

As this suggestion's votes are on the lower side, the team have not prioritized work on this to date and we have yet to add a status. For more information on how we work with Product feedback, check out this Community post.

On another note, a very warm welcome to the Community! If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out our New To Community forum to learn how to get the best out of our resources here.

Let me know if there's anything else I can assist with 👍

I agree it would be very help to have an "Exclude" option for filtering - this would be very useful for dashboard widgets where we want to exclude certain folders or statuses.

Why would such a feature require soooo much effort to implement?! This improvement should not take longer than 1 Week to implement....

Adding my vote to the pile, hoping for more traction. An "exclude" filter is a normal UI for reporting and dashboards.

The ability to "exclude" in filters is a bare minimum for Dashboard/UI management like this. There are so many use cases. Disappointing that this hasn't been added after seemingly over 5 years of community requests.
