[Backburner ⏳] Automation Action - Change Custom Field - Dates
Greetings,
I have been digging through the forums and have noticed several people have been asking for similar enhancement that I need(I didn't find it on the product feedback forum).
Add an option on the "Change Custom Field" action to allow you to insert a date into custom field. Have the option to insert today's date, a leading or lagging date, or a static date.
Primary ask is to put today's date in the field the rest would be a bonus
Thank you for your consideration
I would love for this to be added! For reports, I need to see what date tasks hit a certain status.
Currently the only way I can get an accurate read on this is to manually check each task.
Thanks folks, your feedback is now sent to our team 🤗

This is critical for us! we need the tasks to power dependencies but we need custom fields for reporting. I would love an automation for a custom item type date change to change it's matching custom field date.

Leigh Blazer thank you for your comment. additional comments and votes how show how versatile this feature would be for the users
Lisa thank you for your continued support throughout the community
This has also been an urgent request from our team. We want to capture the initial due date of our go-live milestones for products and compare the initial date to when the go lives are completed. This will allow us to measure whether we are delivered behind, ahead, or on schedule for various products. The only solution currently is to manually input an initial due date and with over 100 active projects (with multiple products), this is extremely time consuming.
Ben Thomas thanks for the comment, definitely understand that struggle, been doing the same with about 40 projects. 100 sounds beyond overwhelming and error prone
Lisa This is must have. Having an automated pop up "Change Custom Field" action to allow you to insert a date into custom field, may be "Today's Date". It will save many steps and finding out cycle time between various custom fields will be easier and data we will get be genuine.
Lisa you can merge my post https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/22238763491095-Automations-Custom-Field-Date-as-Action?page=1#community_comment_22474773372695 in this post.
We are already using the solution given by Ped Watt in my post, but this method does not ensuring that crucial date-based data is consistently captured and genuine.
Thank you SV -, done!
We have the exact same request as Ben Thomas. "This has also been an urgent request from our team. We want to capture the initial due date of our go-live milestones for products and compare the initial date to when the go lives are completed. This will allow us to measure whether we are delivered behind, ahead, or on schedule for various products." Currently, the process is manual, time consuming and error prone. Has there been any updates on when this feature will be added? Thank you.
Hi Megan Brown! This is on our team's radar as they understand how important this option would be. We don't have an update right now but we'll let you know when we have one. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Any updates on this feature being implemented?
Hi Colin Toney, thank you for your comment. Our Product Team is interested in this feature and is exploring options to support date-type fields 🙂 We will let you know as soon as we have any updates!
Any updates on this feature. Needing automation for when a status gets marked "complete" the custom field automates the date it's been marked complete within the custom field.
Hi Melanie Hill, welcome to the Community 👋
As Juan mentioned above, our Product team is very interested in this suggestion and would like to work on it. We don't have any specific details at the moment, but we'll hopefully have an update in the coming months 🙂

I have up-voted this request. Here is our use case: I need to setup automation that logs today's date in a custom field when the task is moved to Folder X. I noticed that the status for this request thread is Backburner. That is disappointing as I hope it will be implemented soon. Is there a workaround for our use case in the meantime?
Interested in this as well to help with analytics and automate data entry. You would even be able to use today's condition options to ensure the date field is blank before triggering the automation which would be important for use cases where you wouldn't want to overwrite the initial date stamp if a task or project needed to return to the trigger status a second time.
For example, we're interested in understanding how quickly a team is responding to support tickets, we want to know the time between status New and In Progress as well as other transitions.
I agree with Ross's use case related to not overwriting the initial date stamp. I'd like the option to choose whether the automation should overwrite or not.
Hi Anna Schild and Ross Wilson, thank you for upvoting and for sharing your use cases with us! 👏
Hello - upvoting as well! Our use case is to pull the dates of a custom task type into a custom field at the project level. For our campaigns, we like to report on the in-market dates. Up until recently, we had been just manually maintaining the custom fields, but recently found a need to create a task to represent these dates as well so we can feed it into a calendar. It would be great if it could feed into the custom field as well so that it is not only viewable within table view/dashboards at a project level, but also to pull these dates into a calendar.
