[Investigating ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ] Assign an automatic due date from a request form

We have an SLA to respond to requests within a 48hr period. When we are using Trello we had it set up so that when a request was submitted it automatically assigned a due date 48 hours ahead. The card would then turn red as that date approach. We really miss this functionality and would love for it to be replicated in Wrike,

We can't use the project template workaround as we don't use projects, just tasks.

Hi Angus, thanks for the feedback here! I don't have an automatic solution for you (and we'll share your feedback with the team), but I did want to share two things you could do with the current functionality to hopefully make your team's work a little better:

  • Create Dashboard Widgets: Ifย the Request form tasks go into a specific Folder, you can create Dashboard widgets whichย show the tasks created "Today" or "Yestersay". As you work through tasks you can set the appropriate due date. I know this is very manual, but hoping it makes it a little easier for you to add dates.ย
  • Question on the Request Form: You can add date-type question on the Request form. I would make this a required field and specify in the question that the due date should be two days from the current date. Again, I know this is manual, but may help.

Thanks Stephanie, I did find a workaround for the time being from someone on these boards but I'd still really like it to be as described above.

For the workaround we ask the form submitter to select today's date as a mandatory question then assign this to the project start date and use the auto rescheduling of the the template tasks (align with project start date) to add two days on to that date by having them set as 3-day-long tasks. It's not ideal but it does work,

Thanks for getting back to us Angus - the solution you've outlinedย is what I would sugggest here too ๐Ÿ‘

I'm happy it's worked for you, though I understandย it's not the ideal approach you're looking for. Yourย original post will now be available for other to upvote and discuss further and we will also make our Product Team aware of it too.

Thanks for posting! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a similar SLA requirement on new work requests.ย We didn't want to have the user enter "Today's Date". What I did wasย have the form apply a project template. The first taskย has a due date set to "Today" and the second Taskย using the first as a predecessor.

Then set up a dashboard watching that "New Request" folder for "New" Tasks, Sorted by Date.

We happen to have 2 tasks in our process, but the system does allow you to either set a custom date with the duration as 2 Days, which may work if hours are important.

How many up votes are needed for the suggestion for SLAs to get implemented into the request forms?ย  Curious if I need to force all my users to click this or not.

Here's a similar workaround we use, via Wrike Integrate. This recipe could easily be adjusted to set the task due date based on the form submission date, eliminating the need to ask for a date in the request form.

See the example recipe at https://www.workato.com/recipes/1054869

This example solution assumes that the request form generates a single new task, and it requires a couple of Wrike custom fields (available on Wrike Business and Wrike Enterprise). This solution could be modified to work for request forms that copy tasks or projects, as needed.

With this solution, the request form asks for a single date from the submitter, along the lines of "When do you need this request completed?". The resulting task created by the request form submission will reflect the following:

  • The task start date will be set to the date of the request form submission
  • The task due date will be set to the date selected by the form submitter (if you want to modify the recipe to support a 48-hour due date, you could adjust the recipe accordingly using a formula based on the form submission date/time)
  • The task description will be updated to reflect the date the form submitted requested, for audit purposes in case the task due date gets changedย

Amazed that you have to force a date response on end users when you already have 'Created Date' populated automatically. It should be possible to reschedule based on the date the form was submitted.ย

I'm nudging this thread too. I was shocked to find that adjusting due dates was not already built in to Wrike automations.

I'd love to see the option to further this by using/being able to set working hours/days. So for example, if a task is created outside of working hours, it would account for that and have it be 2BD from the start date, which could only be during working hours.ย

Good Afternoon,

I would like to automatically assign a due date based on a custom field or priority field. For example:ย

When importance = Highย  >ย  Then change due date to Todays Date

When Importance = Low > Then change due date to 30 days from todays date

Agreed with the above suggestions.ย  I have a single select field for priority.ย  It would be useful to be able to set an SLA target date based upon the priority:

Low -> Set Due Date = Today() + 20d

Medium -> Set Due Date = Today() + 10d

High-> Set Due Date = Today() + 5d

Is there a workaround for this?
