Set reminder email alerts for tasks/sub-tasks prior and at time of milestone/due dates

Would like the ability to set reminders both visible in the dashboards/portal and by email for tasks/sub-tasks prior and at the time of milestone/due dates where we can define for each item.

Hi Earl, just coming across this post now. It would be great to hear a use-case so everyone here can fully understand how you'd use this in a real life example.

If you can also share how you're achieving a workaround or solution at the moment, that would be great 👍

Currently you can set a task milestone or due date, but not both.  In the case of a support contract renewal task (or domain name renewal or ssl certificate renewal) for example - the deadline would be a certain date but the purchase of the renewal would come much earlier to give time for the renewal to process.  We would need notifications ahead of time so this is done by the deadline.  The only workaround I know of is to have separate sub-tasks.  Recurring tasks that spawn only a day before the date set have this same problem, there are no reminders ahead of time.  There are a lot of other (non-IT related) tasks that have the same scenario.

Yes, upvote this. By the time we get to the deadline, it's often too late.

Also, for recurring tasks that are not generated upfront it would be ideal to be able to have the ability to set the auto-generation date instead of 1 day before the due date.

Another case for this would be:

User A must complete a pre-requisite tasks before user B can complete theirs.  It would be nice to get a reminder either a few hours or a day ahead of time to confirm with User A if they are going to meet their deadline, instead of relying only on Wrike to alert once user A has completed.  This would allow User B to be proactive about their workload and schedule for the day.  If user A is going to complete in the morning, so can user B, but if User A is late, then User B can do other work while waiting.

This feature would be great. I am still learning this software and I would love this feature

I also think this would be helpful. Deadlines can be easily missed if a reminder is only being generated right in advance of what is needed.

Our team works in a similar way. Some milestones have much longer lead times than others, so having what we call an 'alert date' instead of just a 'due date' is hugely helpful in ensuring topics are covered off and correct resource is in place, long before it becomes too late

Hi again everyone! Notifications aren't currently planned by the team, but I'll make sure to let you know if that changes. I'd advise setting up dependency of tasks where there's a milestone for the end of the project but also task(s) that would be for things like "renewal purchase" etc and that would also have earlier due dates, for example.

We are doing that as well as using custom field named Deadline where we can select that and populate a date and then use a Report view to show that field.

I would love to be able to set an alert for projects we put on hold to reactivate them on particular dates without creating new tasks.

Our use case is simple. I have a weekly recurring task that I set to do every Wednesday. But it arrives in my inbox alerting me to do it the day before. I would like to set it so that I get an alert the day I have to do it. I don't want to have to press "snooze until..." in order to hide it until the next day.

Hi Lorie Saria-Huertas,

What day do you have the recurrent task set for? The date of the task title may not correspond with the recurrence. If you select the "edit recurrence" option, you should be able to see what day the notification is set for.

Also, what time do these notifications appear? Usually, recurrent tasks will be assigned to you the night before they are due so that you can see them in the morning when you start. If these Inbox notifications are appearing 24 hours before you wanted them to, let me know and I'll raise a Support ticket for you.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions let me know 😊

Hi Hugh,

Thanks for your response. I have two different recurring tasks. One is set daily, the other is set weekly. The titles correspond with the recurrence. When I select "edit recurrence" I don't see any options for notifications.

My notifications appear at 2:50 am of the day before it is due, which is pretty much a whole day early. For a task due on Feb 26, I will receive a notification in my inbox on Feb 25. If this isn't usual, then yes please raise a Support ticket.

Thanks so much!

Hi Lorie Saria-Huertas, this is an intentional feature. These tasks are set to appear one working day before they are set to begin. This is to give you the chance to clear it in your Timeline. Apologies for any miscommunication.

One possible workaround would be to rename the task to "Wednesday's Task" and to set the recurrence for the next day. That way you would receive the notification when you intended it to.

Thank you for your feedback! It's been passed on to our Product team.

If you need help with anything else or if you have any other questions, let me know 😊

Thank you, Hugh and Support team for looking into this for me. I will try the workaround for now. But can I suggest enabling options for scheduling the notifications as a future development? I'd like to be able to say when I want the notifications so that it works best with my own workflow.

Thanks!
