How do you keep the left sidebar/spaces open for navigation?

It collapses whenever I click a sub folder, project, or task.  I want to keep it open permanently like the old version.  I would also like to return to expanding folders/projects with the little carrot.  Thanks!

I also have users requesting this - they keep looking for a "pin" icon to get it to stay open, similar to Microsoft Outlook's panes.

Hi Chris, Typically my screen (I think this is a default) always show the navigation structure of your account. I often collapse this so I have a larger screen for the project I am reviewing. You typically need to hover over the upper left to get the navigation back. I have not seen this behavior of the screen collapsing to cover your navigation, so I am sure support needs to check this out.

My team is having the same issue! It used to stay up wherever you navigated, but now it won't stay extended (or even give the option to extend) in the inbox view. My team uses the left-hand navigation to find projects frequently and having to re-open all of the nested folders each time is a pain.

Kevin, it's true that if you hover over where you indicated when you're in a project or task, the navigation will come up, but it's not an option in the inbox, home page, dashboards, etc. and doesn't seem to "remember" what folder you were in when you navigate back -- at least for my team and me :(

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for posting and your feedback here. I'm happy to share that we've released an update that enables your pinned items to be available in the Hamburger menu in the New Wrike Experience. This section can be collapsed and expanded by clicking on the title 'Pinned' in the Hamburger menu.

In the coming weeks, an update to expand your pinned folders and projects with sub-folders/sub-projects in the Hamburger menu will be available. Please check out our Community post to find out more about the recent improvements.

Please let me know if you have any questions 🙋🏻‍♀️

Please release this quickly, this new experience makes me want to rip my hair out!!  We have a tons of nested items and they keep collapsing every time I go to my inbox and back to the hamburger menu.  It seems that no one actually tried to use this format in an actual situation, this is basic functionality, there are so many added clicks now!  At least take the force off, so we can go back to the old version.  The new version barely looks any different and is so annoying, I spend half of the day clicking folders.  Huge disappointment.

Also, how about a calendar setting?  Why do I need to see my whole team's calendar every time I go in there and have to set it to show only mine?  Why is there no pin for the calendar across the top for fast access?  Just make it exist next to the inbox.

Totally agree, Christi! "Pinning" the folder doesn't keep the nested folders open. Also, I want to keep the whole left hand navigation menu open on ALL screens, not just when you're in a project/task. Right now, it disappears if you go to the calendar/inbox/etc. so it takes longer to navigate back to projects.

Agree with Christi's frustration.  There are so many additional clicks to get to the same info as previous experience. Particularly, you now have to click Home to go to your Pinned items (which have no organization at all now on the home page as opposed to how they used to be).  Or you have to click the hamburger and then drill down again into your pin folders to find your pins.  Every. Single. Time.  I agree it's like no one even tested these UI changes in the real world.  By definition, your pins/favorites should be right there, visible all the time.  It's mind boggling that pins/favorites would be taken off the main screen and buried somewhere - not much of a shortcut if you have to click several menus to get to your shortcut.

Hello Tim Batt, thank you for posting and sharing your feedback. I've passed it on to our team.

In the meanwhile may I ask if you've considered pulling up the pinned items on your homepage as the first section, would that help with your current experience?

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance 😊

Hi Cansu, I believe the question is: how to keep this whole navigation bar opened for all the time. I've had it pinned to the left and shown constantly before. I have clicked the small arrow under my initials in the orange square. Now it keeps disappearing whenever I move the mouse out of it. Is it possible to restore the previous state, i.e. to pin it again to the left border and keep showing constantly?

UPDATE: My colleague found this, I've had to click this icon to pin it back:

Whoa; thanks for this tip Bartosz. But WRIKE - really bad UX on this: the "HIDE" icon (  <  )  is well placed and self-explanatory, inside the panel it's taking action on. But the UNHIDE should be in exactly the same location (may I suggest " > " if a pushpin icon is unavailable?), within the panel it is affecting. Right now it's clearly an IQ test many of us are failing.
