Dependencies

When setting up dependencies, is there a way to add a time buffer?  For example, I want task B to be dependent on Task A, but I do not need to start task B until a week after Task A is completed?  Or I need to start Task A a week before Task B.  The example I am trying to work with is I would like to set my first task as "Project Start Date" and once that is set then it would change the start dates for every task in project.  Or I would like to set my project end date and then tasks prior to that would set their dates based on when the project needs to be completed.

HI Matt, sounds like you're looking for a dependency lag for tasks. Wrike works with date constraints rather than time delays. To add a date constraint, go to the Timeline View and reschedule the dependent task by dragging and dropping along the timeline. This will then add the task's start date constraint.

For working from the end date you can set the last task in the dependency chain as a milestone, it won't reschedule the other tasks when/if you change dependent tasks but the milestone icon will highlight orange on the Timeline View when there's a conflict with other tasks start/end dates.

Some other members have suggested the same as you have in our Product Feedback section. It would be great to get your vote on this suggestion from Megan

I also just want to mention the new Timeline View which combines includes a table feature which you may find useful. It doesn't have lead/lag but you can turn it on from Wrike Labs and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it here or you can click on the feedback link under the feature on the Labs page.

Definitely need lead/lag!   A large part of my 3000+ tasks can only be done with buffers in between of 20 days or more and it is a huge aggravation when shuffling tasks around which we do at least 50 per day so you can understand our frustration

Definitely need to be able to set a task in the future as a dependency and be able to change the number of days duration for the prior task and have that prior task's start date change.  All our projects start with an end deadline date and the same tasks and we need to know when we need to start the project.
