Hi Robin, I can definitely see why that's a problem. We just made a release that I think may help with this. Now when you duplicate a Folder/Project you can choose "+ Select folder" so that the duplicated Folder is created in a different place from the original. So as long as the assignees are shared on the top-level Folder (the one where the duplicate is going to be added), they'll be automatically shared on the duplicate as well. Does that help in your case?

Hi, that would definitely help us a few cases, but not this specific case as the duplicated folder/project is tree where the assignees normally doesn't have any access.

A very similar case came up for us:

We have a project template and would like to have some people be Followers to certain tasks. Is it possible to maintain the task-Followers from a template somehow?

@Robin got it! And it sounds like you don't want the assignees to have access to the template Folder?

We'll definitely pass this feedback on to our Product team, but just in case wanted to suggest a best practice (given the current functionality). On the template Folder, from the Folder info panel, add a list of all of the people who the Folder should be shared with once it's duplicated. Then, go to the Folder info panel and share the Folder with all the people on the list. I know that's very manual but might help streamline things a little bit.

@Phil Currently the only way to maintain people as followers would be to add them as assignees to a task. Within the template, you could create a task for everyone who needs to add themselves as a follower. List the names of all people and the names of the tasks they need to follow. Again, I know that's not ideal, it just may help streamline the process.

Hi @Stephanie, about @Phil suggestion in May 2017, is now any solution to keep task followers when I duplicate projects? or I have to keep them in the assignee section to keep them following tasks?

    Thanks

Hey @Cano, thanks for bringing this up here, I'm jumping here for Stephanie while she's away. When duplicating the project, choose the option "with assignees" to keep them in the new project. Currently it's not available to keep the followers when duplicating projects. Hope that helps 🙂
