How can I generate a report on a project history? (who changed what and when?)

I'm interested in reporting the history on a project. Changes to tasks dates, assigned to, etc. . Any ideas?

Hi Juvencio, thanks for posting this question! Historical updates for Projects and Tasks are tracked in their streams, so these updates appear alongside comments under the Project or Task description. To see an overview of all changes made to tasks within a Project, you can refer to the Activity Stream of the Project, here's how:

  1. Open the Project or Folder.
  2. Select "Stream" from the Navigation header.
  3. In the filters panel, choose to view all tasks.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this!

Thanks! But I was looking for an automated way to do this. Sort of having all activities for a project, their changes, etc. in a single document, that I can use during postmortem meetings.

Hi Juvencio, really sorry for the delayed reply here! It's not possible to pull an automated Report for historical updates to a Project, but I'd love to hear some more information on how you envision this based on your use case. Do you see this being grouped per task, with sections for types of updates? I'm really interested in learning about the types of information you'd like to pull with the help of this kind of Report!

I was thinking where can I have a history of the report, where I can see all comments to discuss on a post-mortem meeting. The report could be for each task within a project, having comments included for each task. The value of the report is that I could have documented in one place all activities that occurred within the project, reasons for missing due dates, documents associated to the details of each task, etc.

Hope to see something like this soon!!

Thanks for the additional details, Juvencio! That's an interesting idea, and I wanted to let you know that we have a Product Feedback section on the Community if you'd like to submit this request there, so other users could add their votes too. :)

Hi, I have the same "problem" here: our management team just wants a weekly update in their mailbox (without having to go to Wrike) on what's new / what's been happening with some of our projects.

The stream works great if you could add some more filters (f.ex only show newly created tasks, only show comments to taks, etc).

Now all we desperately need is to make a sort of report of the stream (so the comments & tasks) that can be sent on a weekly basis to your mailbox. This way, upper management can keep track of what's happening with a  project this week, without having to subscribe to everything and without having to go through every project and task in wrike itself. For me, this seems like a basic feature in a projectplanning tool: getting weekly status updates on what's actually buzzing in a project.

Possible solutions?

  1. In the current report tool, you can only report on a project or its tasks, not the comments. Perhaps making the activity stream optional to include in reports is a solution for this.

  2. Or, you could expand the dashboard feature: now you can add projects to a dashboard, based on the filters you’ve selected in the list-view of that project. If you could select the option “add to dashboard” via the stream view of a project, you could make dashboards with streams of several projects to get a clear overview of what’s buzzing per project.

Now you can only add the general activity stream for all projects to a dashboard, this is in no way clear and easy to work with.

Also you would still need to be able to set some filter options of what you want to view in the activity stream: for us it’s all about what tasks were newly created this week and what comments were given to certain tasks (not the details like someone changed the date or description or added a field etc: these are not the things management is interested in)

I’ve added this as a new request in the product feedback section of the community, I started looking for post already relating to this, but it’s kind of hard looking within the product feedback section, as the search box gives you results all over the help portal.

Hi Elyn, I just wanted to let you know that I replied to your post, Report on Streams. We use Zendesk for our community platform and they're working on updated search functionality to make it easier to find if something already exists withing the product feedback section. We're looking forward to that update as well :) For now though we'll always let you know if there's a similar post and point you in the right direction.
