What's New in Wrike - April 2024

The April edition of What's New in Wrike includes updates on Item view, New Dashboards, Blueprints, Wrike’s Mobile app, and more!

Item view - Convert tasks to projects and vice versa

Available to all users except collaborators on Business and higher plans.

We've introduced the most requested feature from our Community, the ability to convert tasks to projects and vice versa. You can now convert items using the Change item type option, found in the three-dot menu of any item.

This feature creates a new item in the original's location, with data copied over, and moves the original item to the recycle bin. For information on what data is preserved and additional details, please check our dedicated Help Center article.

New Dashboards - Now available in all paid accounts

Available for all users except for collaborators on all paid plans.

New Dashboards are out of the testing phase in Wrike Labs and are now accessible to users on all paid plans.

Visit the fully updated Help Center section dedicated to New Dashboards and our latest Community post to discover all the details about this feature.

Note

New Dashboards are available on all paid Wrike plans (Team, Business, Enterprise & Pinnacle) and will coexist with the classic version for the time being.

On top of making this tool available to all paid accounts, we have also added the Design tab, which expands on customization options for your widgets.

You will be able to access this option in the widget constructor, after selecting one of the available charts. For existing widgets, you can click on their three-dot menu and select Edit to access this section.

Once you’ve opened the Design tab, you will be able to adjust how you wish to display the data of your chart:

  • You can sort your data by Value (from largest to smallest or vice versa):

  • In case you don’t want to see the Other column in your chart, you can select the All values option:

  • With the Alphabet option, you can change the sorting to alphanumeric and specify if it should be from A-Z or Z-A:

  • The Field order allows you to display your data following the intrinsic order of your workflow or custom fields values:

  • Lastly, you can change the position of the legend that indicates the data you’re reporting on. By accessing the Legend position option, this information can now be located at the top, bottom, right, left, or even hidden (“None”).

Blueprints - Create directly from the context menu

Available to all users except collaborators on Business and higher plans.

We’ve improved the process of creating items from Blueprints by adding them to the context creation menu. You can access this menu by clicking on the + button located at the top right corner of your workspace. Once you access this option, select Customize this menu to add blueprints to it.

Toggle the relevant blueprint to make it available when creating a new item.

You can also use blueprints when creating a new item in the Table view. If you don’t see your blueprint in that menu yet, you can customize the creation menu to add it.

The same logic applies to the Board view and to any other part of your workspace where this menu is supported.

Note

Blueprints will only be available to users who have access to them.

Mobile App - New version includes access to Calendars, Request forms, and more

The Mobile app is available to all Wrike users. Features’ availability depends on users’ plans.

Our latest mobile update (2024.1.2) is now available for iOS devices (the Android app will be released soon), and includes:

  • Access to Calendars.

  • Additional options in the three-dot menu in item view: Duplicate item and Share.

  • Follow-up questions for the multi-select option in request forms.

  • Inbox and push notifications for pending approvals. You can update your notification preferences in Settings.

  • Option to update the status of your tasks directly from the Table view.

Generative AI - AI comment summarization added

Available to all users except collaborators on all plans.

We've added a new capability to our Generative AI feature: Comment Summarization. This helps you quickly understand key points in long discussions by providing a short overview, listing decisions made, and creating a personalized list of action items. If you already have Generative AI enabled, this feature will automatically be available. If not, the account owner can enable it in Wrike Labs.

You will start seeing the AI button in the comment stream header, and in conversations with five or more comments, you’ll also see the Summarize comments banner. Find more info in this Community post.

Custom fields - Custom fields for users unveiled

Available in Wrike Labs. Account admins can create Custom fields for users on Business and higher plans.

We have introduced the new Custom fields for users feature in Wrike Labs. This feature allows you to create user fields with specified values that the system will use to automatically provide you with suggestions - in the assignee picker field -, allowing you to instantly see which users match the requirements.

You can create custom fields within the Users tab under Account Management, accessible only to account admins. Access the Fields section and then click on the + Custom field option to create a new one. Once created, you can add values to the field per user.

Custom field values can be used as an assignee requirement to identify suitable assignees and can also be shared with certain individuals or groups.

Existing task fields can be converted to user fields in Account Management > Custom fields. You would only need to open the field settings (by clicking on the field) and check the box Use this field for users.

Assignee picker preferences are customizable and can be saved.

Apart from Table view, Board view, and Workload, you can also make use of these fields in request forms and other tools and views where custom fields are supported. You can read all the details about this release in our Community post.

Note

This feature is subject to change and its functionality and availability - regarding plans and users - may be modified in the future.
