Change Management Process
The first folder that you’ll see in this template is ‘RFCs’. RFC stands for Request For Comments and is commonly used for storing technical notes and documentation. The folder contains some sample tasks that represent examples of change management tasks for IT teams.
The pre-built ‘Change Request’ form populates this folder with new change tasks. It uses one of the templates that we’ll discuss below.
The tasks created in the ‘RFCs’ folder come with pre-created custom fields to track, filter, and report on data such as a change’s impact, rating, type, and urgency. They also capture the team requesting the change, and indicate if this is an emergency change.
The tasks here use a pre-built custom workflow - ‘Change Management’ - with statuses representing an example of a typical flow for IT change management.
The ‘zTemplates’ folder can be used both for creating a new change request for the IT team, and for checking all requirements for different types of changes like procedure changes, network changes, application changes, etc.
The tools section includes three dashboards: ‘Emergency changes’, ‘Change manager’, and ‘Change runway’; a ‘Change Calendar’, and a ‘Change Teams’ report.
We really hope that you’ll find this template useful for change management processes. Please let us know in the comments if your IT team may be interested in using it, or if you have an established process already 👇
