[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Custom field type - Date range
A custom field type date range would be very helpful. Similar to the date range where you today select start date and due date but as a simpler more flexible custom field.
Use case: We create a lot of custom fields for tasks where we today need to create two fields, start date and end date. This could be i.e. our clients events, marketing campaigns or other task types where this date don't have anything to do with i.e. our workload. We need to finish the ads for a marketing campaign before the actual campaign starts, so our due date is before the campaign start date. But our designers making the ad, the media buyers and planners needs to know when the actual campaign is and when it is running.
If you could connect this field to the calendar as well that would be very helpful in displaying this information in an orderly manner.
I'm sure such a field would have other use cases as well :)
Hi, Vegard 🙂 As your suggestion got more than 60 upvotes, I've applied the 'Backburner' status here, which means that the Product team is interested, but no ETAs at the moment. I'll keep you posted and thanks for the idea 👍

Hi Vegard, just going to jump in for Lisa here!
Our team is still researching this suggestion, so that's why the status of this thread has not changed. As soon as there is an update, I'll be sure to let you know!
Hi Vegard Strønen
Our team is in the process of delivering this functionality soon. It's looking great! We've focused on the campaign launch/end dates use case as part of the requirements and would love to know what you think once it's available. Are you interested in a quick call so we can show it to you and see what you think? Let me know if so. Cheers
Can a/the Gant Chart View be tied to this field?
Hi Andrew Goddard, I've shared this feedback with the team. At the moment it's not possible to answer if Gantt Chart View could be tied to this or not, since the research is ongoing. We'll make sure to update this thread when we have more information from the Product team 👍🏼
Are there any updates available on this request?
My use case would be a date range when an advertisement may be scheduled to be published. I'd like to pair this field with a calendar tool/view to visualize when we have ads running across different channels and allow us to identify content gaps.
Hi everyone! I've checked with the Product team - even though they really wanted to deliver this functionality, the research phase showed that it's not currently possible. That's why I've changed the status to "Backburner" here. I understand that this would be disappointing news for you here. Please rest assured we'll continue passing on the feedback and the vote count here, and we'll let you know if anything changes here in the future.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Lisa just checking in on this functionality to see if it's any future plans. We need to be able to build an in-market calendar for communications assets, but that in-market period doesn't align to project duration or a publish date. A print ad will likely be in market for an entire month, or a digital advertising campaign may run for three weeks. Being able to overlay those projects can help us ID if we're devoting too many resources during the same time period or not enough. Any updates?
Hi Amy Croom, welcome to the Community! Thank you for jumping in. At the moment, we don't have any updates on this suggestion. However, please rest assured that our Product Team is aware of how popular this idea is, and if there are any updates, we will share them with you 👍
Don't hesitate to let us know if you need help with anything else. Also, it's worth mentioning that you can check out our New to Community forum to discover all the resources available within our Community 🙂
I'm chiming in on this as well. We've come across at least 4 different times we'd need a functionality like this from a product development perspective. The suggestions mentioned before apply to us (campaign calendar, ad run dates, etc.) additionally we often need to display "planned" dates for roadmap purposes to approximate in which quarter we're planning things but project actuals don't fit neatly into quarters and often run much longer so roadmaps start to look like some projects have gone on for a year or more. The only alternative is to adjust the project dates, which messes with our ability to look at our workload and effort planning. I can create a separate roadmap space to roadmap and track goals but it's a lot of duplicate effort to maintain two spaces with different project dates. I tried adding a "Roadmap Start" and "Roadmap Finish" custom date field but you can't use those to visualize on a calendar, etc. Thanks!
Thank you for your detailed feedback Travis Balthes, I'll share it with the team now 👍
