[Released in Wrike Labs] Events/Sales/Promotions (Marketing Calendar)

I was curious if anyone is using Wrike for a marketing calendar. We have our product releases being viewed as milestone dates, launches of blogs and other creatives in the same manner. How would you do so with a campaign that may stretch over multiple days but isn't necessarily a task? It is typically the final step in a process (tasks before to prepare for the campaign.)

After chatting with support a milestone was the only option, but was curious if anyone else had some ideas of using Wrike fully for marketing calendar (without the traditional calendar view.)

I don't have a tried and true solution just yet as we are just launching but we'll have a similar need.  We want to have a shared content strategy calendar.  Right now I'm thinking we'll have reports running off campaign folders as our navigation includes a "campaigns" folder.  Either way... following this to see if there are better ideas!

Would love to see more ideas here as well! For anyone interested in a calendar view, this is something our team is very seriously discussing, and Christine's post is a great place to add a +1 for the idea.

Hoping we get more ideas as well.

@Stephanie, is there any discussion about taking into account those that would like to use it as a marketing calendar?

@Jennifer not specifically around that topic (at least not that I can see/find, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not there 😉 ). I would love to hear more about what would be needed for a marketing calendar in particular though. Would it need to be more than just seeing specific tasks on a calendar view? Looking forward to learning more!

We would like a view resembling a calendar to allow for more content sharing/transparency between our marketing teams.  (We have regional teams.) That way each team could see a high-level view of not only work going on now but also planned for the future.

Other than specific tasks it would be the ability to see somewhat similar to milestone dates in the calendar - ex/ Holidays, Sales that run more than 1 day, Events. This way you can schedule other marketing activities and tasks around that.

@Jennifer Would you be looking to see something other than tasks on this view then? Or are you talking about using events as tasks and then being able to see those on a calendar?

Hey Jennifer,

Love to jump in on this one to see if I can help.

I have a question about your multi-day campaigns. By campaign, do you mean deliverable? One thought would be using tasks as deliverables and sub-tasks as the tasks necessary for delivery. By doing so, you can capitalize on Wrike's Timeline functionality a bit further. I am curious if this might be an option – and if so I could describe work structure in a little further detail.

Hi Jennifer,

My team would also love to see a calendar function! At the moment, we have a ghetto calendar view built using folders in our workspace.

We made a "calendar overview" folder with separate sub-folders for content, events, campaigns, etc. In the original project, a milestone task (with the launch date) is tagged to these "calendar folders" and can be viewed together using the timeline / Gantt chart view. We use naming conventions for the tagged tasks to better identify which project they come from.

Not ideal by any means, but it gives us some visualization and insight into how many launches happen in a month or over the quarter.

Hope that helps in the meantime!
Carolanne
