[Status: Coming Soon...๐Ÿ•‘] Duplicate Reports

The ability to duplicate existing reports (ex: quarterly reporting) so that the reported fields remain consistent and all that would need to be changed is the name and time-frame would be great. Alternatively, the ability to create our own report templates could also solve this issue.

This is a two year old request and is still not a feature, seemingly a very easy and beneficial workflow improvement

Totally agree, Michael. And no reasonable or logical explanation why Wrike doesn't feel there's a need for this when obviously the users think there is.

This was promised to be in the works when we signed up 2 years ago. This is a very important feature deficiency and one that should not be very difficult.  There has been lots of time spent on product bloat instead of fixing an essential piece of functionality.

Who prioritizes the product features? Instead of the party line - "... its not on the product team short term road map..." i would like to hear from THE Product Owner as to why this fundamental feature continues to be put on the back burner... I mean is there a fundamental architecture issue that makes it a major undertaking or are there too many people with great ideas that are getting put ahead of the users in the trenches?

Frustrated!

This comes up all the time on my team when I create a report and share it with my team members..  they want to create a copy and make some tweaks to it.  Also, I want to create a report for one team member, then duplicate it and swap in another team member keeping all the other settings the same.  Instead, I have to recreate each report over and over again from the beginning.

Is there anyone from Wrike who can explain why this obviously important and what seems to be a basic feature which has been upvoted and commented on by many users in this thread and other threads,  has been put on the Backburner?  How can we get it off the Backburner and into production?

This came up in our training. The 15 minutes to create each report, including testing and grouping. This would have us hours to be able to copy another team report and get up and running.

Why not post where it is on your roadmap?

Dear Wrike community team,

I just read this whole thread and became a bit disappointed about the situation that this feature is obviously not in the focus for a long time now. So let me suggest a new idea: Why not allowing this duplication via an API amendment for reports and fetch, copy and delete them?

As a minimum:

[GET] /reports โ€” Get all reports for current account.

[POST] /reports โ€” Create a new report based on an existing one (given with its ID)

in addition it would be nice to have:

[DELETE] /reports/{reportId} โ€” Delete report by Id.

And perfect if there would also be a modification possibility (for certain values):

[PUT] /reports/{reportId} โ€” Update report by id.

At least those of us which can work with the API could solve some of the use cases having such calls available. Maybe this is already existing somehow and used for your own unit tests? Could you please check this idea with the Wrike developers? Maybe this is easier to achieve as it is "just" back-end changes?

I would settle for anything.  I would use the reporting system more if I had the ability to create a nice report for a team, and then take that report and duplicate it for different timeframes and different teams.  As it is now I would have to start from scratch on every report, not going to do it.

It makes me wonder how much Wrike actually uses the product themselves.

Hi everyone! I'm really sorry to hear you're disappointed - please rest assured that all your feedback is passed on to the team and this suggestion, being one of the most popular on the Community, is regularly brought up during the internal discussions.
I've checked with the team and here's what I can share with you on the subject: currently, our Product team aren't planning any enhancements for the classic reports in the near future as their focus this year is on other functionality, including advanced graphical reporting (Wrike Analyze) and also enhanced report navigation and management. At the same time, the team clearly understand the demand here, and they are planning to add this suggestion to the roadmap later.
Thank you for your support here!

Hi Lisa,

thanks for replying to my posting. Let me just mention: I wonder who should use all the new stuff in reports if each report need to be created from scratch. Again and again. Does your product team uses reports by their own? If not, this would explain why some functionality is not treated a important.

You mentioned:

"[...] as their focus this year is on other functionality, [...] also enhanced report navigation and management."

Do you have some details here? Copy of something is one of the most basic management isn't it? You lost me. Shall this mean we get something better or something which will replace classical reporting in a better way? Any timely horizon for this?

Hi Lisa,

It's disappointing that Wrike isn't working on basic reporting functionality because their focus is on Wrike Analyze which is an add-on with a separate annual cost. (And unfortunately, we don't have the budget to purchase.)

When we looked into purchasing Wrike and spoke with other clients a few years ago, it got high marks for really wanting to partner with users and give them a first rate tool... and trying to solve users issues.  Sad to say, in this instance, it seems that Wrike doesn't want to provide basic reporting functionality because they want to upsell and twist arms to purchase their add-on. ๐Ÿ™

Agree with Adreas...do you (Wrike employees) find this lack of basic reporting to be acceptable?  How do you work around all the extra work, wasted time, and margin for error in re-creating reports over and over and over?  And... what is a timely horizon for roadmapping the request?

I am so bummed to see that this is not a feature that is currently being planned. We have 40+ clients that would like the same report. How inefficient to have to recreate the report each and every time we have a new client, rather than duplicating and simply selecting the source data location.

I really hope that this is reconsidered in the near future.

Hi folks,

I understand that it can be frustrating to see that a suggestion on the Community hasn't been implemented, we're sorry to disappoint you here. We would love to be able to implement every suggestion that we receive in the Product Feedback section, but unfortunately, this isn't possible.

As Lisa has mentioned above, the Product team have no plans to implement this in the short term due to their focus on other aspects of the product. They are still interested in this suggestion, however, so if there are any updates or developments in regards to this, I'll be sure to let you know.

If you have any more questions/feedback, please do let me know.

Hi Hugh,

Thanks for giving this statement. This gives at least some confirmation for us to continue our independent approach. We currently going into UI automation to build up reports. As this is consuming resources on our side we now at least know that this will not become redundant soon as you guys will not come up with a standard solution soon.

Maybe to Caitlin, Nancy and the others: If you are in principle interested what we are doing and are able to put money on it, we can think of sharing what we do. Currently we are not in a commercializing situation but maybe we could/should as this would be a win/win. We can build a better tool than we panned and you guys could solve your needs. This is just a loud spoken thinking and I would need to get an OK internally first, but I would be interested if this would be interesting at all.

Is there a way to send private messages without giving my email here?

Looking forward to hear back from you.

Hey Andreas Wastl, thank you for your input here. It's been passed on to the Product team.

There is currently no private messaging service through our Community. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Just to add my 2 cent: It is frustrating, especially since this seems like such a basic capability of Reports.

We've been fighting since late 2018 for this and it is getting a little old to be asking for the same over and over, since clearly this is something a lot of customers have voted on and are in need of.

I understand you also need to keep your business model in mind and make money. However, in my opinion, features that are already there - but are missing essential, basic and needed capabilities are not exactly the best way to promote Wrike as a whole.

I agree that for some use cases, the Wrike Analyze add-on might be great, but for customers like us, we've built our own reporting and visualization tooling on the basis of raw data and this add-on does not make sense for us.

Again, if you provide the app "Reports", then I would assume some basic things are there like copy, duplicate, move to another owner, assign to Spaces/ projects/ folders, etc.

Can you please check again how close your Product team is to considering this change request?

Hi,

Another vote in favor of duplicating reports here, this would be really convenient to have.

I am able to duplicate reports with Wrike.  Have you tried recently?  Go to forms management and right click on a form.  You should have the ability to duplicate or delete?

Hi everyone, thank you for your patience here.

According to the Product team, this feature is currently being discussed as part of planning for the product roadmap, and they are looking at implementing this suggestion next year. For that reason, the status of this post has been changed to "Investigating". I'll be checking in regularly with the team, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on further developments. If you have any questions, be sure to let me know.

Don't get too excited Philip.   We were told this was planned when we signed on 3 years ago.  The fundamental problem with the Wrike message is that the "Production team" is "investigating" this.  The Production team obviously cares more about bells and whistles than it does about solving real user problems. Otherwise, this would have been done long ago. i expect that it wont make the cut yet this next year once again.  I would have a lot more confidence if this said the "Customer" team  was investigating.

Dan is right, their response means nothing to be excited about.  When we're getting more emojis and smiley faces as a priority, it's disappointing.

True, request is from beginning of  2017. So my hopes are already down for this to be solved.

If after 3,5 years it receives the status investigating.. it might take some more years to reach the proper status of solved.
